Middle School/High School Nurse

1. Assesses individual student health needs and provides care and first aid as needed.

2. Collects, documents and updates health information on all students and staff.

·      
3. Completes preliminary nursing assessment (height, weight, blood pressure and visual test) and assists the physician conduct the annual physical assessment when applicable.

4. Administers medications prescribed by the student’s physician.

·      
5. Administers nursing care procedures prescribed by the student’s physician.

·      
6. Maintains daily clinic records of student and staff illness and type of care given.

·      
7. Maintains clinic equipment.

·      
8. Assesses and orders supplies.

·      
9. Keeps a record of medications in use and their expiry dates.

·      
10. Develops, implements, and evaluates school health policies and procedures.

·      
11. Participates directly and indirectly in health education. Serves as a resource person to the students and
staff members.

12. Researches, evaluates, and updates school health services.

·      
13. Involves students and staff members in the practice of emergency plans/routines in response to fire, earthquake, intruders or civil unrest events.
