At the end of the month, the situation remains extremely tense, with ongoing Israeli attacks targeting cities and villages across Lebanon. Since the conflict began, 178 paramedics have lost their lives, 279 have been injured, and 246 emergency vehicles have been targeted.

The humanitarian situation in Lebanon has reached levels that exceed the severity of the 2006 war, with ongoing hostilities resulting in a toll of 2,867 deaths (including 178 children and 560 women killed) and over 13,000 injuries since 8 October 2023, according to national authorities.

In September, Israel launched a barrage of airstrikes against Lebanon, marking the deadliest day since the country’s 2006 war. In recent weeks, the conflict has escalated, with strikes mainly hitting the southern part of the country and parts of Beirut, the capital. Millions are in need as winter approaches and the hostilities threaten more lives.

Since October 8, 2023, Lebanon has experienced an increase of conflict which deepened on September 23, 2024: strong bombardments, airstrikes and ground invasion, caused numerous casualties and significant displacements, particularly in Beirut, the southern and eastern regions, and lately also the northern areas.

On October 29, 2024, UNIFIL delivered essential humanitarian aid to the Municipality of Tyre amid a challenging situation in south Lebanon. The donation included much-needed medical devices and medicines provided by two Italian donors, Banco Farmaceutico and the NGO Live to Love.
