BEIRUT, 23 September 2024 – At least 21 children are among an estimated 270 people killed, and more than 1,000 injured in Israeli strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon on Monday, with all schools now closing and children terrified, said Save the Children.

Islamic Relief strongly condemns today’s deadly attacks on civilians in Lebanon and calls on world leaders to take urgent action to stop further escalation.

Today’s Israeli bombing has caused by far the deadliest day in Lebanon since the crisis began almost a year ago. The death toll is rising rapidly but so far more than 180 people are reported killed and over 700 wounded, including children and many other civilians. Reports of a growing number of fatalities and many hundreds injured in devastating aerial bombardments in Lebanon today are a cause for grave concern.

STATEMENT ON THE SERIES OF EXPLOSIONS ACROSS LEBANON AND SYRIA

NEW YORK, 23 September 2024 – “I am deeply alarmed by the ongoing surge of attacks in Lebanon and Israel, which earlier today reportedly claimed the lives of at least 24 children in southern Lebanon. The intensifying violence represents a dangerous escalation for civilians in the area.

UNIFIL expresses grave concern for the safety of civilians in southern Lebanon amidst the most intense Israeli bombing campaign since last October.

Lebanon continues to be severely impacted by ongoing hostilities, with daily exchanges of fire across the southern border. Over the past two weeks, there has been a marked intensification in the conflict with Lebanon experiencing its deadliest day since 8 October 2023 on 17 and 18 September. In 2014, Mohammad had arrived Lebanon with his family. He knew later he is wanted by the Syrian Military Forces and Syrian State Security and is wanted as well to do the obligatory Military Service.

وفي 25 أيلول 2023، زار فرع الأمن العام في دير عمار شمال لبنان لتجديد إقامته. تم اعتقاله ثم إرساله إلى سراي طرابلس ومن ثم إلى المديرية العامة للأمن العام في بيروت.

وعندما حاول محامي عائلته الاستفسار عن قضيته رفض معلومات الأمن العام الكشف عن أي معلومات عن سبب اعتقاله.

في 10 تشرين الأول 2023، زارته عائلته ولكن عندما غادروا اتصل بعائلته وأخبرهم أن اسمه مدرج على قائمة المبعدين قسراً.

Years later, he registered with UNHCR as asylum seeker. In 2021, he married from a Lebanese lady.

بتاريخ 3 تشرين الأول 2023، صدر حكم عن محكمة جنايات زحلة بتغريمه عشرين مليون ليرة لبنانية بالإضافة إلى ترحيله إلى سوريا. بتاريخ 6 تشرين الأول 2023، نُقل إلى الأمن العام في زحلة.

M. A, is a Syrian seeker asylum. On 22 September 2023, he was arrested by the Lebanese State Security Forces from his home in Al Rahma Camp in Bekaa, east of Lebanon. He was accused of violating the rules of residency in Lebanon.

On 3 October 2023, a sentence was issued by the Criminal Court of Zahle which fined him with twenty millions of Lebanese Lira in addition to deportation to Syria. On 6 October 2023, he was transferred to General Security in Zahle.

He fears to be deported to Syria where he might be arrested arbitrarily and subjected to torture.
