Medrar Foundation organized an awareness session titled “Parenting in Times of Challenges: Balancing Firmness and Emotional Support” at the Al-Masaken Al-Shaabiyya in Tyre. The session brought together local women for an engaging discussion led by Mrs. Batoul Moussa, with the participation of psychotherapist Mrs. Layla Reda Safieddine, founder of Layla Center. Mental Health Matters – Awareness Program by Medrar Foundation and LAU Civic Engagement Students In partnership with the Lebanese American University (LAU) Civic Engagement Students, Medrar Foundation launched a community initiative titled “Mental Health Matters.” The program aimed to break the stigma surrounding mental health in Lebanon and to equip individuals—especially youth and parents—with practical coping tools to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional distress during economic and social hardships.

In collaboration with the Lebanese American University’s Civic Engagement students, Medrar Foundation launched an awareness program titled “Health on a Budget”, aimed at educating communities on how to maintain and improve their health through affordable and practical approaches.

BEIRUT – The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched an emergency operation to provide food assistance for up to one million people affected by the recent escalation of the conflict in Lebanon. The agency is distributing ready-to-eat food rations, bread, hot meals and food parcels to families in shelters across the country.

COOPI – Cooperazione Internazionale, which has been active in Lebanon since 2013, is intervening to bring immediate aid assistance to all those who have fled with nothing. Our humanitarian workers are working in the vocational training centre in Siblin, Saida Governorate, and in two schools in Nahr Al Bared, Tripoli Governorate, used as collective shelters. Since 20 September, Lebanon has been experiencing the effects of a dramatic escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. This wave of violence is taking its toll on Lebanese civilians and as of today there are 104,000 newly displaced people, in addition to the 110,000 who have fled the south of the country in the last 11 months. UNRWA declared the activation of its Emergency Response in Lebanon on 24 September 2024, immediately opening two emergency shelters. Beirut, 25 September – The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has released its latest Mobility Tracking displacement update showing at least 90,350 people have become newly displaced since 19 September, following the latest military escalation in Lebanon.

Yesterday (Monday 23 September 2024) Lebanon suffered its bloodiest day since the end of the 1975-1990 civil war. According to Lebanese authorities, Israeli aerial strikes killed 558 people, including first responders, women, and 50 children. More than 1,800 people were wounded and thousands more families have been forced to flee their homes and seek shelter in crowded schools.
