Against the backdrop of ongoing hostilities along the Blue Line, the members of the Security Council condemned the several incidents that impacted the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) positions and injured UNIFIL peacekeepers in the past weeks, including the ones on 29 October, 7 November and 8 November.

The people I have met in recent days–from those in Gaza City, to the displaced in eastern Lebanon, to those crossing into Syria–longed for peace so they could return home. Children spoke of how much they missed school and their friends, and parents wished for an end to the precarity and suffering that displacement has brought. The suffering of millions cannot begin to end until those in power push for peace and take action to end the violence.

On 22 October, peacekeepers on duty at a permanent observation post near Dhayra were observing IDF soldiers conducting house clearing operations nearby. Upon realizing they were being observed, the IDF soldiers fired at the post.

Highlights

  • The government of Lebanon continues coordinating efforts to support over one million people affected by the escalation of hostilities on the Lebanon-Israel border. Nearly 75 percent of all casualties in the conflict took place since mid-September 2024, including reports of more than 890 children injured, and 127 children killed.

أطلقت المؤسسة الفلسطينية لحقوق الإنسان (شاهد) تقريرها السنويّ للعام 2023، مسلطةً الضوء على أبرز المستجدات حول واقع اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في لبنان، ومعرجّةً على أوضاعالفلسطينيين في الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة. عُني التقرير بعناوين عدّة، أبرزها الأوضاع القانونية للاجئين الفلسطينيين في لبنان، وتقييم لأداء الأونروا خلال عام 2023، إضافة لأوضاع اللاجئين في قطاع غزة في ظل الحرب المستمرة عليهم، وخلص في الختام إلى مجموعة من التوصيات التي من شأنها أن تحسّن من أوضاع اللاجئين الفلسطينيين وتحفظ لهم حقوقهم.

أقامت جمعية "سوا للتنمية" بالتعاون مع "المجموعة النسائية الدولية للسلام" IWPG في كوريا الجنوبية مباراة رسم حول موضوع السلام تحت عنوان" لنكن أصدقاء للسلام" شارك في المسابقة 160 تلميذ من المدرسة الأميركية العالمية رياق ومدارس مخيمات قب الياس والمنصورة ومركز المأمون في مجدل عنجر. كان الهدف من المباراة نشر ثقافة السلام للاجيال القادمة وايصال مفهوم السلام عبر الرسم للاطفال والشباب الذين يعانون من الحروب والنزاعات
