In the absence of a clear national plan for Integrated Waste Management (IWM), and due to various political and governmental issues, Lebanon has had to face a serious waste crisis in 2015.  The paper scrutinizes events leading up to the 17th of July 2015, and the impact of its aftermath on Lebanon’s environment, infrastructure, health and landscape. This paper draws on Oxfam research among refugees and host communities in Lebanon in 2015 and aims to contribute to an urgent discussion of both interim and longer term solutions to address protection issues, living conditions, access to services and reduced aid dependency for refugees; along with stronger social protection, access to services and greater employment opportunities for poor and vulnerable Lebanese.

Lebanon has a total of 212 prisons, out of which 4 are specific to women. And there are 2 additional prisons dedicated to minors. Mental health screening and care is absent in Lebanese prisons. Catharsis hopes the recommendations from this study become a reality as they will change the live of many forgotten person behind bars, some of whom have been in prison for over 35 years, and it will prevent a similar “life sentence” fate for future mentally ill inmates.

This a survey aiming at studying the situation of Syrian refugees as newcomers as part pf SHEILD's project for assessing and distributing NFIs for newcomer HHs from 2012 to 2014. The study base is te data collected through door to door HH and individual assessments carrried out throughout the priod covered by the study via the standard newcomers assessment questionnaire which tackles all aspects of a newcomer refugee in terms of social, economic, shelter, health, protection, basic needs, food scurity and nutrition and other necessary aspects.
