GIZ ZFD in Lebanon and in collaboration with SALTO-Youth Euromed will be organizing the first Lebanese National Tool Fair "Hit the Road....Break the Code" from 29 June till 1st of July 2018. The Lebanese Sociological Association (LSA, supported by the International Sociological Association), in collaboration with Jadaliyya/ASI, Lebanon Support, and the Sociology, Anthropology and Media Studies Department at American University of Beirut (AUB), is organising a two-day workshop on the topic of social movements in the Arab region, with a special focus on two countries that did not directly witness the Arab Uprisings:  Lebanon and Iraq.

The aim of the conference is to discuss:

1. Factors of radicalization and the responses of the Lebanese and the Canadian governments in that respect;

2. The question of refugees in Lebanon and the anti-Syrian sentiment as a factor of radicalization;

3. Impacts of programming designed to counter radicalization and improve social cohesion in Lebanon.

This conference will also encourage fruitful exchanges on this global issue and foster cooperation between academics, policy-makers and NGOs.
