We will explain what the greenhouse effect is from a scientific perspective, at the planet’s level and in our daily lives.

We will discuss what the environmental crisis is made of, and where are the myths and the realities. Is there really plastic in our food? How is climate change affecting us? We will try to take distance from emotions and see the factual picture.

This training explores social work practice in light of these contextual and relational dynamics, taking a step back to redirect our actions where necessary and to the extent possible. By exploring various tools and sharing experiences, it aims at better understanding power dynamics that emerge and form in the field and at exploring new approaches for interventions. The objective is to enable the implementation of fair and equitable projects for all.

This training is open to persons working in the field of aid and development. It offers a space to reflect on the approaches we adopt in the field while considering power dynamics and revisiting the way we really ensure empowerment.

The event is a Panel Discussion in association with Caritas Lebanon and the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development to discuss the Participation of the Non-Governmental Organizations and Institutions in the Execution of the United Nations Sustainable Development Plan.

During this event, we will launch the third issue of the Civil Society Review*, our peer-reviewed journal, as well as introduce its editorial board. This issue offers insights into the transformation of the “associative sector” in Lebanon and Palestine, a sector generally seen to be at the core of an increasingly active civil society.

This event constitutes an opportunity for attendees to identify like-minded organisations and conceive potential collaborations, in order to strengthen civil society cooperation and synergies.

This event aims to present all the mappings in the Conflict Analysis Project’s data centre, and their usability in research, advocacy, programming, and policy.

During the event, Lebanon Support and forumZFD will present this mapping, as well as the infographic and key findings of the report developed based on the database. The presentation will be followed by a panel intervention of a range of actors from civil society, education, and policy making who will share their insights and experiences on initiatives addressing the past in Lebanon. This session will introduce the open source, free platform KoboToolbox (www.kobotoolbox.org) which can be used for online and offline data collection. Kobo ToolBox is built on ODK (Open Data Kit), a suite of tools that allows data collection using mobile devices and data submission to an online server, even without an Internet connection or mobile carrier service at the time of data collection.

The Business Leadership Program introduces participants to various leadership skills and practices. It enables participants to examine the necessity of leadership, the effective tools to employ it, and the means of positively influencing others. The Program differentiates between managers and leaders and notes the significance of each to ensure success. 

The Lebanese Sociological Association (LSA, supported by the International Sociological Association), in collaboration with Jadaliyya/ASI, Lebanon Support, and the Sociology, Anthropology and Media Studies Department at American University of Beirut (AUB), is organising a two-day workshop on the topic of social movements in the Arab region, with a special focus on two countries that did not directly witness the Arab Uprisings:  Lebanon and Iraq.

Planning and commencing field research can be a daunting prospect, often filled with ambiguity and lacking in structure.
