The presentation will be followed by a panel intervention of a range of actors from civil society, education, and policy making who will share their insights and experiences on initiatives addressing the past in Lebanon. Youth Training Bootcamp covering 6 topics, 12 trainers in 1 location. Topics covers: Leadership, Negotiation Skills, Emotional Intelligence, Creativity, People Management and Body Language. This session will introduce the open source, free platform KoboToolbox (www.kobotoolbox.org) which can be used for online and offline data collection. Kobo ToolBox is built on ODK (Open Data Kit), a suite of tools that allows data collection using mobile devices and data submission to an online server, even without an Internet connection or mobile carrier service at the time of data collection.

The Lebanese Sociological Association (LSA, supported by the International Sociological Association), in collaboration with Jadaliyya/ASI, Lebanon Support, and the Sociology, Anthropology and Media Studies Department at American University of Beirut (AUB), is organising a two-day workshop on the topic of social movements in the Arab region, with a special focus on two countries that did not directly witness the Arab Uprisings:  Lebanon and Iraq.

Forging ahead with fieldwork: Framing your research, getting started, and building analysis.

Planning and commencing field research can be a daunting prospect, often filled with ambiguity and lacking in structure. This workshop aims to demystify the research process, from conceptualising a topic to making initial phone calls and conducting interviews. It will leave participants more confident to tackle the challenges with which even experienced field researchers sometimes struggle.
