Communications Volunteer

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified candidate who would like to volunteer with DRC as Communications volunteer. About the job  The Communications volunteer has the responsibility to produce communications material that show the work of DRC in Lebanon.  The volunteer will be responsible to produce success stories, press releases, Facebook posts, and translate documents from English into Arabic.   Your main duties and responsibilities will be: • Support in story writing about DRC’s programs and activities in Lebanon, including taking photos and writing content  • Translate English language documents into Arabic whilst rendering the highest quality of translation services (producing an accurate translation, ensuring that technical words are accurately translated, working within the required deadlines)  • Support in social media  • Work in regular consultation with the communications assistant and in collaboration with colleagues in the Beirut office to respond to communications request  • Complete any other tasks as assigned by the communications department.     About you  To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Bachelor degree in communications, translation, journalism or any related field  Moreover, we also expect the following:   Required   • 1 year of experience in communications  • Fresh graduate  • Proven ability to write compelling human interest and news stories  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in Arabic and English.   • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communications (both written and oral) skills  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint  • Demonstrated to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously   Desirable  • Experience in social media   • Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings   • Previous experience working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon      In this position, you are expected to demonstrate DRC’ five core competencies:    Striving for excellence: You focus on reaching results while ensuring an efficient process.  Collaborating: You involve relevant parties and encourage feedback.    Taking the lead: You take ownership and initiative while aiming for innovation.  Communicating: You listen and speak effectively and honestly.    Demonstrating integrity: You act in line with DRC’s vision and values.    We offer Contract length: one month   Duty Station: Beirut   Start date: November 2017   Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals and Internationals; please refer to drc.ngo under Vacancies.
