Regional Gender Justice Programme (RGJP) Photography and Videography Producer Terms of Reference   Location: Home based in Beirut Type of Contract: Service  contract Languages Required: English and Arabic Duration of Assignment: November – December 2017   1.      Programme Background Oxfam’s Regional Gender Justice Programme (RGJP) was established in 2009 to promote gender equality in the MENA region. The RGJP aims at supporting women, in particular poor women, to realize and voice their rights, enjoy a life free from violence and have access to social and legal protection, and become equal contributors in the development of their respective communities, hence breaking the cycle of violence and exclusion. In its work, the RGJP links direct assistance to poor women with national, regional and global advocacy and campaigning work. Advocacy work at the RGJP is informed by both programming and research. The RGJP work with 39 partners in the following countries: Lebanon, Iraq, Morocco, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Jordan, Tunisia, Yemen and Egypt. The RGJP programming and advocacy work focuses on the following five thematic areas: -          Women, Peace, and Security, -          Transformative Leadership and Women’s political participation -          Women’s Economic Empowerment -          Women’s Access to Justice -          Eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls (EVAWG)   As part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence campaign, RGJP, is developing a 2-day event that will tackle gender and technology, and violence against women and girls in the MENA region (Gender_Tech). This event will bring together feminist, techies, social activists, journalists, academics and students. Gender_Tech will be organized on the 24th and 25th of November 2017 in Antwork, Beirut, Lebanon. Gender-tech will aim at: contributing to the global discussion on gender and technology creating the space for skills sharing and knowledge generation co-creating solutions to end online and offline violence against women and girls The event will focus on how digital spaces are being used to perpetuate violence and harassment of women and girls, and how tech can be a force for social good in ending VAW in MENA. The event would bring together a unique mix of civil society, creatives, universities, and tech start-ups and labs from across the region: all with an interest in innovating for social change on gender justice. On Day 1, a series of curated inspiring talks, workshops, presentations, and panels would set the scene and address the problem themes. The content for these sessions could include presentations of research, demonstrations, discussions, PechaKucha-style presentations, and debates. On Day 2, at the heart of the event will be a hackathon focused on co-creating solutions to online and offline violence against women. Solutions would be developed in teams and pitched to attendees. This event would help to inspire future women leaders in tech, build networks, and deliver solutions to one of the most pressing gender justice issues in MENA. 2.      Purpose of the job:   The Regional Gender Justice Programme is looking for a photography and videography documentation producer and editor to capture, edit and produce photo and video documentation of the 2-days event and activities during Gender_Tech. The consultant will interview attendees, panelists, organizers of Gender_tech. Tasks The photography and videography producer will be required to: Attend Gender_tech activities on the 24th and 25th November 2017. Photoshoot and video shoot interviews with organizers, panelists, attendees of Gender_tech in Antwork. Develop the interviews video clip’s overall concept and storyboard Responsible for the supply and set up of all technical equipments necessary to produce final multimedia and visual products (camera, microphone, lighting...) Transcribe interviews needed for videos (Arabic/English speaking editor is a must) Edit and produce a draft 3 short videos Short video capturing the event 2 to 3 minutes long (rushes plus a few soundbites - possibly non-intrusive music to create energised mood) (Girls and tech event Oxfam organised in April). 1 to 2 minutes of vox pops bolted together (translations and on-screen name /position where relevant.) Possible questions: Why are you here? / why should we care about these issues? 1 to 2 minute vox pop bolted together (translations and on screen name /position where relevant). Possible questions: What have you learnt at this event? and/or What has been your highlight? Edit and produce a draft 3-4 minutes short video documentation Share the draft documentary with Oxfam for comments about contents and direction. Input English and Arabic subtitles according to time codes (translation provided by consultant) Produce the finalized video in high definition after incorporating Oxfam’s comments and color corrections. Ensuring that all the work produced meets Oxfam’s criteria and standards and visibility guidelines: logo, branding, consent of interviewees, messaging as well as used language and terminologies. All products should be signed off by Oxfam representatives before delivery of final versions. Oxfam reserves the right to amend or delete content whenever deemed necessary. Ensure that background tunes and music are licensed to be used for this project     3.      Deliverables Task Date Develop the interviews videos overall concept and storyboard 10 November Attend Gender_tech activities on the 24th and 25th November 2017. 25 November 2017 Photoshoot and video shoot interviews with organizers, panelists, attendees of Gender_tech in Antwork. 25 November 2017 Produce 3 short videos as described above 29 November Transcribe interviews needed for videos (Arabic/English speaking editor is a must) 5 December Edit and produce a draft 3-4 minutes short documentary and share it with Oxfam for comments about contents and direction. 8 December Input English and Arabic subtitles according to time codes (translation provided by consultant) 10 December Produce the finalized video in high definition after incorporating Oxfam’s comments and color corrections. 12 December         4.            Outputs Expected outputs include: a)      Visual identity and elements of the short videos (animation, effects..) b)      Rough cut /draft versions of the video c)      Final videos with English subtitles: a)                  Short video capturing the event 2 to 3 minutes long (rushes plus a few soundbites - possibly non-intrusive music to create energised mood) (Girls and tech event Oxfam organised in April). b)                  1 to 2 minutes of vox pops bolted together (translations and on-screen name /position where relevant.) Possible questions: What have you learnt at this event? and/or What has been your highlight? d)      Photography shots of the Gender_tech event   5.      Oxfam support: Oxfam will facilitate access to information and interviews as needed.   6.      Copyrights   All the produced materials will be copyrighted to Oxfam and any violation of copyright law will be pursued appropriately.   7.      Required Experience (firms/team members/individuals) ➢    Experience   -       Significant years of experience working in audio-visual video production, recording, editing and sound (minimum five). -       Extensive experience in producing development work related videos and films for international organizations with the aim of reaching both local and international audiences. -       Excellent technical capacities to ensure smooth and high quality production. -       Additional experience in similar short videos is an added advantage. -       Knowledge of English and Arabic is a must   ➢    Desirable skills:   - Previous experience of working with Oxfam, NGOs and INGOs. - Ability to work in close coordination with other team members.   8.      Reporting lines /coordination   The coordination will be directly with Oxfam’s Gender and Influencing Team.   9.
