Technical Manager

   BACKGROUND The Lebanon Industry Value Chain Development (LIVCD), originally a five-year project, has received a sixteen-month extension to January 2019. LIVCD is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by DAI Global LLC (DAI). The LIVCD project aims to increase the competitiveness of selected value chains, expand the number of Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises that can compete in selected markets, improve linkages between those firms and other actors throughout the value chain, increase the gross value of products and services in local and export markets.,  OBJECTIVES  In the final year of project implementation, the Technical Manager will collaborate with the Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, MEL Manager, Communications Manager, and technical managers to support and guide in the capture and documentation of project impact and results of activities performed throughout the five years of the project. The Technical Manager will also work on related tasks as detailed in the LIVCD annual work plan.  SPECIFIC TASKS In collaboration with other team members, create and oversee the implementation of a strategy to capture direct and indirect impact of LIVCD’s activities. Through extensive field visits, meet with LIVCD’s beneficiaries to identify successes as well as opportunities for learning. Also through these field visits and meetings with beneficiaries, identify and report cases where non-direct benefiting farmers have improved their practices based on technology provided by LIVCD. Support LIVCD MEL team to document and write up project impact and success in the form of impact assessments and or case studies on selected interventions from selected value chains. Coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure proper handover and sustainability of all supported activities.  Prepare written reports as required for submission to USAID, including weekly, quarterly, annual or other requests as needed on project interventions. Follow up on existing grants to ensure proper implementation by beneficiaries and VC coordinators in order to achieve maximum project impact from LIVCD support especially those with sales and or export focus. Other duties as directed by the Chief of Party.  JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS: Candidates are required to possess a strong command of written English. Applicants should have experience working in the development sector, preferably USAID, and in capturing and articulating successes and achievements. The candidate must possess at least 5 years’ experience in implementing multi-year projects similar in complexity to LIVCD.    SUPERVISION  The Technical Manager will work under the direction and report to the Chief of Party.
