Catering Officer (Lebanese Nationals Only)

Assignment Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Catering Officer is responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the catering staff on this project. Specifically, the catering Officer will conduct daily follow up on the women that will be cooking for the workers by planning the menus conduct purchasing of raw materials and delivering them to the beneficiaries. In addition to the direct supervision of workers, the catering officer should make sure that the safety and hygiene rules while cooking are met.   Background ACTED is an International Non-Governmental Organization registered in France with global operations in Central and South Asia, Europe, Middle-East and Africa. ACTED has been active in Lebanon since 2006 operating mainly in the North and Beirut and Mount Lebanon governorates of Lebanon. ACTED is currently implementing WASH and Shelter activities in BML through an innovative neighbourhood approach.   Functions The Catering Officer shall be responsible for: -   Collect proposed menus and review them (cost, cross contamination risks,etc..) -   Responsible for collecting raw materials Order Forms upon request -   Responsible for purchasing and delivering raw materials upon ACTED’s guidelines and procedures. -   Responsible off following up and assisting the catering team during the food preparation to ensure that quantity and quality requirements  are met -   Responsible of delivering food portions to the work site designated by ACTED. -   Meeting operational standards by contributing to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, and resolving problems; identifying system improvements in coordination with management -   Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with food safety regulations. -   Updates job knowledge by tracking and understanding demand; -   Has a good knowledge of geographical area of Beirut; -   Enhances organization reputation by accepting responsibility for feedback from community and beneficiaries regarding service delivery and sharing with coordination; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. -     Internal Coordination -   Submit   OF to the line manager; -   Ensure procurements will be done on time by following internal guidelines; -   Refer complaints and delays to relevant ACTED’s staff; -   Keep line manager and Security officer informed about any security issues. Follow internal security guidelines; -   Keep an accurate filling system; -   Participate in internal lessons learned workshops and project feedback.   Accountability to Communities and Beneficiaries The Catering Officer is responsible for ensuring that all relations with the communities we work are conducted in a respectful and consultative manner.  Due attention must be paid to ensuring that communities are adequately consulted and informed about ACTED programme objectives, activities, beneficiary selection criteria, and methodologies.  This is the responsibility of every ACTED staff member.   Knowledge, skills -   At least 1 year minimum experience of management -   Experience in food sector (hospitality, etc) -   Fluent in Arabic, with written and verbal English skills and the ability to work in an international context; -   Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills -   Knowledge of catering systems and processes considered an asset -   Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; -   Highly motivated and with a desire to work with local communities; -   Ability to work with culturally diverse groups of people; Excellent knowledge of Greater Beirut area
