Project Background and Objectives The project “Towards more Resilient Communities in Lebanon” is a project funded by the USAID through MSI and BALADI CAP program and implemented by the Association for Forests, Development and Conservation (AFDC). The objective of this project is to implement the disaster management capacities of 29 municipalities identified through BALADI CAP’s Civic Engagement for Democratic Governance. In particular, the project will build the capacities of municipalities in emergency response planning, in crisis management with emphasis on Syrian refugees, in addition to developing municipalities’ emergency response plans. AFDC will achieve the set objectives by engaging relevant community stakeholders, as well as public officials at the municipal and regional level. The planned activities include training workshops, coaching visits, on-the-job training and table-top exercises. Scope and Requirements The GIS Expert will: -          Develop the data collection tool (questionnaire/s) in consultation with the Project Director and the Lead Technical Officer. -          Conduct data collection and analysis in selected municipalities using tools including Geographical Information Systems and satellite imagery. -          Assist the project team to map the results of the stakeholder analysis. -          Assist the project team to conduct community risk profiling for natural and man-made hazards. -          Assist the project team to conduct community resources analysis and generate related maps. -          Illustrate all collected information on maps. -          Assist the project team to develop the Municipalities’ mitigation, preparedness and response plans.
