Self-defence Trainer
Project Overview
Akkar Network for Development (AND) has been working in Akkar for the last 5 years with women, youth and local authorities to promote the well-being of the community. In addition to other interventions in the area, AND is currently working on several protection initiatives aiming to reduce violence against women and children, along with women and youth empowerment.
Looking into a comprehensive plan that includes embodies innovative approaches, AND has been working on fostering an inclusive effort in the implementation of a community led initiative to support women and youth where we can create an impact in spreading awareness about gender and response to GBV along with self-empowerment for women and youth.
Areas of Responsibility: Life Skills (Self Defence)
The trainer must provide life skills training workshops on self-defence to a group of women in Akkar. These classes shall train the beneficiaries on being proactive in what can be otherwise a scary situation. The main tasks to be completed by the trainer shall be:
Developing a training syllabus/brief to be used in the training module, and implement it as agreed upon with the project management team.
Designing and implementing a technical training on self-defence in an interactive training environment for the training, and works as an expert for training and exercise as needed.
Identify and solve training issues.
The candidate must be good educator, a self-starting problem solver with the ability to work with limited supervision. Desired background experience in adult education, and technical, self -defence training. He/she shall be required to possess the following skills:
Experience in teaching command and control courses, with a specific attention to women protection
Ability to confidently manage and engage students of all ages in a positive learning
experience in groups to work effectively
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; must be personable and diplomatic in working with a diverse range of people
Communicate information with enthusiasm, clarity and patience
Possessing the ability to demonstrate, and communicate techniques clearly
Demonstrating Excellent fitness
Demonstrating the patience to teach people of vastly differing physical ability.
Well-practiced in all Self-defense technique
Exceptional understanding of avoidance techniques
Clear ability to instruct others
Understanding the difference between teaching children and teaching adults
Conducting weekly group sessions for students to practice with one another.
Training location: in Halba – Akkar.
Reporting
The trainer shall report to the Project Manager
