Water Quality Analyst Assistant

Job Summary: The main purpose of the position is to ensure the quality of water that is supplied as part of Concern Worldwide’s water supply projects and services agreements. As such, this role includes regular testing of water sources, giving advice on water treatment, collecting and analysing samples and information, and reporting all water quality work accurately and in appropriate formats. The role will also require ensuring early warning is provided should water contamination be identified. The Water Quality Analyst Assistant will support the Senior Water Quality Analyst (Team Leader) in providing treatment solutions for contaminated water sources and, at times, may be required to implement water treatment projects. Duties and Responsibilities Monitoring the quality of drinking water at areas of Concern’s interventions, through regular water testing, while keeping records and ensuring that the overall water testing database of the results and abnormalities is properly maintained. The role requires the hired individual to: Performing water quality tests in the field and at laboratory Communicating results with refugees and increasing their awareness about water safety, based on senior officer/team leader recommendations Assist in implementation of water treatment processes on behalf of Concern When needed, participate in collecting relevant technical surveys Maintain and regularly update the database of water testing results, and conduct reports about water quality as required Adhere to the standards of conduct outlines in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Code of Conduct Support Concern’s work in Lebanon by undertaking other tasks as appropriate and required Have comprehensive knowledge of water quality standards and testing procedures Provide samples of drinking water at source and point of consumption Analyse results of tests as per procedures and against agreed standards Where necessary, recommend options for water treatment, assist the Senior Water Quality Analyst (Team Leader) in design of such treatments. Work with and assist Field Officers (Hygiene Promotion Team) to assess effectiveness of the intervention Work with other Field Officers to trace sources of disease or contaminations in order to prevent further outbreaks Skills, Qualifications, Experience and Attitude Required Certificate in Public Health, Biochemistry or related technical qualification Familiarity with Lebanese and WHO water quality standards Experience in community based approaches Experience in water quality testing and monitoring is desirable Leadership and supervisory skills and ability to foster team spirit. Strong organizational skills and able to coordinate and manage a diverse array of activities and stakeholders Excellent communication skills in Arabic Strong negotiation and mediation skills and ability to work independently Good knowledge of spoken English desirable Report writing skills and computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience in conducting surveys, managing data and statistics is desirable Willingness to work in refugee camps and to travel to construction sites on a daily basis.
