1. Project description: From May 28,2016 to May 28,2018 Safadi Foundation implemented the two-year project entitled Wared Women active in Rural economic development in partnership with municipality of Qobayat, Union of municipalities of Jerd El Kaytee & Union of municipalities of Joumeh. The project directly responds to the need for enhancing the socio-economic rights of women in rural Akkar, fostering their equal participation in their household and in their communities. The project highlights the fact that soci-economic rights specifically the right to an adequate standard of living, are a fundamental element in reforming human rights in Lebanon and are a key starting point for widening rural women's access to education opportunities and other sources of social rights. Men and women are working together in socio-economic development of their villages, as partners rather than in an unbalanced power struggle. Women active in Rural Economic development projects being implemented recently in Akkar and consists of three main components: establishment of aromatic plants production units to ensure additional income throughout the year; creation of water and essential oil extraction unit to improve commercial value of agricultural products and implementation of three women-led grassroots initiatives. 2. Purpose of the training  The training sessions will promote collective thinking, needs-based approaches and active engagement of citizens with the support of local authorities. The sessions will be designed to orient the different groups of women towards identifying small collective projects that could benefit the three targeted communities of Qobayat, Jerd El Kaytee and el Joumeh, Akkar. After the training, women should be able to: - Understands the fundamental principles of collective thinking and active engagement of citizens - Analyze problem, identify creative/feasible ideas - Identify purpose and objectives - Determine who are target groups, intermediate groups and final groups; thereby ensuring coherence between goal, objectives, expected outcome and activities 3. Methodology - Learning from each other: participatory training methods such as brainstorming, group discussion, case analysis, role play... must be applied 4. Target Group 60 women members of cooperatives or women associations 5. Trainer Qualifications Academic Qualifications: University degree in social studies, economics or any related field Years of experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of development Competencies: - Previous experience in working with rural women - Hands- on experiencce in development of training program, training documents and skills in training, facilitation - Excellent communication skills - Ability to create a relaxing atmosphere - Experience in working with NGO's and CSO's is an advantage
