Background and Objectives of RET Liban
RET Liban is the country branch of RET international, a humanitarian organization that works globally to ensure the protection and resilience of vulnerable young people through education. RET Liban is locally registered with the Lebanese Minister of Interior as of 2014. It is an independent, neutral, non-religious and non-political organization that has the following mandate:
(1) To disseminate culture and education among the various social classes in general and among children, adolescents, women and categories which are most in need and which are caught in a situation of crisis in particular;
(2) To spread peace and reconciliation among the various social classes;
(3)To ensure protection through education based on the respect and enforcement of human rights, value plurality and avoid discrimination on the basis of race, color or religion;
(4) To participate in the creation of educational and training centers and institutions, as well as handicrafts workshops in order to build capacities and potentials;
(5) To participate in combating illiteracy and educational problems;
(6) To organize training sessions, seminars and conferences, as well as encounters and activities in order to achieve its goals;
(7) To provide emergency technical and scientific assistance in the field of education in cases of conflicts and emergencies;
(8) To contribute to raising educated and socially active generations;
(9) To contribute to educational guidance towards employment-generating sectors for the youth and women;
(10) To contribute to protecting the youth and activating their role in society;
(11) To collaborate with similar entities, associations and institutions in Lebanon and abroad.
Project Background
The “Strengthening vulnerable youth resilience and wellbeing through education” project is funded by the Canton de Genève, Switzerland. RET Liban is working in partnership with the Ministry of Education and of Higher Education (MEHE) and the Ministry of Social Affairs to provide education to youth residing in Lebanon in three public schools located in Baalbek, Machta Hammoud, and Sad El-Bauchrieh. This project is in line with MEHE’s Back-to-School Campaign which aims at improving the access to accredited educational opportunities (formal and regulated non-formal education) and at regulating the non-formal educational opportunities to better support the transition and retention of children and youth into formal education.
Job Description
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Manager.
The incumbent will perform the following duties:
· Launch, implement and supervise project activities in a timely manner;
· Oversee daily operations in the designated public school and organize all project-related activities in coordination with the project manager, the school principal and other team members.
· Conduct all necessary outreach activities to attract and identify beneficiaries;
· Maintain regular written and oral reporting with the Programme Manager;
· Act as a field focal point for RET Liban;
· Ensure proper coordination between RET Liban and local national governments;
· Develop and maintain project records such as databases, reports and records of decisions.
Qualifications and Experience
The incumbent should have:
· A university degree in a related field (Education, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Languages…)
· Minimum 2 years of related experience (projects involving youth and education projects);
· Proven ability to negotiate multiple relationships with various partners;
· Dynamic leadership and creative problem-solving skills, particularly in challenging situations;
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Advanced computer skills, specifically in MS Word, Excel;
· Ability to work flexibly and under difficult circumstances;
· Experience in the education sector, and education programs for peace;
· Experience in working with youth and women would be an asset.
