Rootslab Social Media Officer

Introduction RootsLab is a collaborative pilot project by FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund, Global Fund for Women, Oxfam and Young Foundation that seeks to test how best to incubate social change driven by young women and trans activists.   Oxfam in Lebanon is looking to hire a Social Media Officer to support in managing RootsLab’s social media channels with specific focus on development and delivery of effective information and communication material, thereby contributing to the project’s launch and outreach.  Project Background FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund, Global Fund for Women, Oxfam and the Young Foundation have joined together to adapt a potentially game-changing approach to advance the struggle for gender justice, and young women and trans people’s leadership and collective action. The project responds to the fact that deep-rooted gender inequality prevents millions of young women and trans folks from making choices about and taking control of their own lives. Yet not enough resources go to them directly to help them address, innovate around and combat these challenges. We believe young women and trans activists are best placed to imagine and develop impactful solutions in their communities, but they often lack the opportunity and support to do so.   RootsLab seeks to tackle these challenges through offering a space for collective problem solving, and a structured support process to develop and test projects for new and exciting interventions. It provides formal linkages with women’s rights and feminist groups, tangible resources, key partnerships and support in targeted strategies for engagement, community mobilization, advocacy and communications.   During the outreach phase, RootsLab team will reach out to young women and trans* folks across Lebanon to submit their ideas for change, through its social media channels, website and outreach events.    Objectives Support in raising the profile of RootsLab project in Lebanon through its online presence and with mainstream media In close coordination with the line manager, support the implementation of launch and outreach media activities, as well as the online application process  Tasks The consultant is expected to undertake the following tasks: To regularly generate high quality communication material for RootsLab in both Arabic and English, providing translation where/when needed This includes producing digital material on Roots Lab activities, gathering and writing stories from young women and trans folks engaged with the project, developing and monitoring visibility, and producing outreach material when needed.
