ABAAD Resource Center for Gender Equality “Al-Mashghal – Mobile intervention” Project   Terms of Reference (TOR) Art-Based capacity building consultant   Position: Art- Based capacity building consultant Requirement: Conduct 4 cycles of art-based capacity building workshops (64 sessions in total) for four groups of youth in North and Mount-Lebanon areas. Project: Enhance GBV protection and prevention mechanisms of women and girls at both community and policy levels” Project Time-Frame for this assignment: August- December 2017 Duration: 5 months Location: Akkar (Bazbina, Tekrit), Mount Lebanon (Ghazir, Byblos). Funded by: UNWOMEN and Government of Japan       About the project Non-Lebanese GBV survivors face greater difficulties than Lebanese women. Obstacles to overcoming the cycle of violence include not knowing the Lebanese legal frameworks, cultural context, and geography. Although several efforts have been put in place to respond, evidence from the field continue to highlight large service delivery gaps. Still, although supply may be improved, there is also a negative demand side related to lack of information and social norms. The latter include, as in most societies, a tendency to blame the GBV survivor. The prevalence of these forms of GBV is combined with the following needs and gaps: -         Lack of awareness of the impact of GBV on the community, especially on women and girls. -         Lack of mobilization of male youth and youth groups to address GBV issues. -         Lack of awareness and community engagement amongst the affected communities on the necessity of interventions and the advantages of support for GBV survivors. This project will aim at reducing GBV against women and girls (from both Syrian and host communities) in the most underprivileged areas in Lebanon through enhancing protection and prevention mechanisms while ensuring quality access of women and youth to psycho-social and life skills services.   Overall goal of this assignment Improving the protection of women through PSS services and awareness sessions on women’s human rights; along with enhancing access of vulnerable women and female youth to effective multi-sectorial GBV services. Equipping a total of 100 youth with a set of technological/media skills in order to increase sense of community engagement and social empowerment.   Duties and Responsibilities -          The consultant will be responsible for conducting 4 (16 days each) training workshops cycles targeting a total of 100 women and youth from both refugee and host communities -          Focus of the trainings will be identified based on women’s and youth needs and capacities, but these could include theatre plays, street actions, multi-media actions, Photography or technical skill, among others. -          The consultant will be responsible of documenting the workshops processes, and a video will be produced towards the end of the assignment, where the result will be presented during the IWD event at a national scale in Beirut. -          The consultant is to share with the project team the relevant training tools,  materials to be used during the workshop to ensure these are culturally sensitive to the targeted population; -          The consultant is to provide progress reports during and after finalizing activities in each cycle, and to provide support in the application of the quality assurance procedures –in close coordination with the project team namely the project coordinator – through: Assessing the satisfaction of targeted beneficiaries using the satisfaction survey Facilitating complaint mechanism procedures through informing the targeted population of the complaint cycle procedures Assessing impact of the provided activities through using MEAL tools, such as pre-post-tests, evaluation forms, etc… The consultants are responsible for the procurement and logistical preparation and set up pertaining to this assignment namely transportation, kits and materials needed during the workshop;   Skills required -       Previous experience in conducting art-based capacity building programs for community groups, while addressing sensitive issues through artistic methodologies -       Expertise in art work and design -       Previous experience in working in rural (high risk) villages. -       Previous knowledge of the cultural aspects (norms, traditions and beliefs) related to most vulnerable population in Lebanon (including Syrian, and Palestinian refugees and host communities)     APPLICATION PROCEDURES: Interested consultants must submit, by August 2nd, 2017, a proposal demonstrating their suitability to undertake this assignment.
