humedica has been operating in Lebanon since 2012, and is currently funded by the German Foreign Office. humedica is running two Mobile Medical Units (MMUs), serving approximately 30 informal tented settlements (ITS) in the Bekaa valley, providing free primary health care and medication for Syrian refugees. In addition, humedica is supporting Primary Health Care Centers (PCHs) (under the administration of Ministry of Public Health) for both, Lebanese and Syrian patients. MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Medical consultation for common acute illnesses and dispensing acute medications in the informal settlements (ITS) Provide diagnosis and counselling to each patient and determining and take responsibility for follow up care needed. Treatment of uncomplicated infectious diseases (diarrhea, dysentery and STI etc.). Identify potentials of communicable disease outbreaks. Initial medical consultation and treatment for chronic diseases. Health promotion on health services available in the PHC centers and hospitals. Stabilization services of emergency health conditions and immediate referrals to nearest PHC centers or hospitals after stabilization. Participate actively in the monitoring and the reporting of medical activities (correctly fill in patient files, forms, statistics, reports). Awareness and knowledge of referral options and pathways.  This job description is not exhaustive, the job holder may have additional tasks. CONDITIONS OF ENGAGEMENT: Medical Doctor Position Full-time (5 days per week) Contract till 12 February 2018 with possibility of extension, desired starting date 25 of Septmber 2017 Working hours from 8:30 am to 5pm Basic salary  plus benefits (e.g. lunch allowance, family benefits, transport allowance) Post based in the humedica MMU in Zahle and Central Bekaa. With your team (doctor, pharmacist, midwife, field officer and MHPSS worker), you will visit one to two different tented settlements each day.   MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   Qualified Medical Doctor and license to practice in Lebanon Experience working with NGOs is helpful, but not mandatory High motivation for challenging and complex tasks and good common sense Strong skills in communication, mediation and cooperation Ability to cope with challenging security context Ability to work as part of a team and participate in all activities of the MMU Ability and willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment Flexibility, reliability Fluent Arabic and good English language skills are mandatory
