Protection Gender And Empowerment Trainer

Background ACTED is an international humanitarian NGO, founded in 1993, which supports vulnerable populations, affected by humanitarian crises worldwide. ACTED provides continued support to vulnerable communities by ensuring the sustainability of post-crisis interventions and engaging long-term challenges facing our target populations, in order to break the poverty cycle, foster development and reduce vulnerability to disasters. Our interventions seek to cover the multiple aspects of humanitarian and development crises through a multidisciplinary approach which is both global and local, and adapted to each context. Our 4 000 staff is committed in to responding to emergencies worldwide, to supporting recovery and rehabilitation, towards sustainable development.   Our teams in the field implement some 380 projects in 34 countries covering the following sectors emergency relief, food security, access to health, education and training, economic development, microfinance, advocacy, institutional support, and regional dialogue, cultural promotion. Assignment The English trainer is responsible for delivering protection, gender and empowerment training for 150 beneficiaries at the Social Development Centers in greater Tripoli, specifically Nejmeh, Qoubbeh and Qalamoun. Functions Provide protection, gender and empowerment training to beneficiaries at SDCs The trainer is expected to ensure the following: Training: Review and refinement of 40 hours of curricula on protection, gender and empowerment to ensure it is adapted to the context and suitable for the number of hours. The trainer is responsible for delivery of between 40-50 hours of courses to each group over four months. The trainer will be working full time, from Monday to Friday. Courses will be administered in two hour sessions. Provide samples of Training books/material to be printed and distributed by ACTED during the courses. Encourage to work in a positive friendly environment Encourage to work in a positive friendly environment Be patient and positive and provide explanation when necessary Coordinate with SDC Director and Project Manager with all updates related to the implementation process. In addition to the above, kindly note the following: The beneficiaries’ drop-out is to be taken into account, and course should be adapted to their needs Reporting: Take daily attendance of trainees Provide weekly reports to ACTED updating on training progress Provide weekly work plan to ACTED Project Manager Coordinate with SDC Director and Project Manager with all updates related to the implementation          process.   Expected Deliverables Curriculum design for the full course content to be delivered one week prior to start of training, in Arabic Language The training calendar with session titles Learning objectives List of key contents and talking points Sequence of steps to deliver the session List of required materials in advance of training launch Attendance sheets of each training day Target audience and profile The training will be delivered to mixed groups (Syrian and Lebanese), aged 18-45 with at least basic literacy and numeracy. Beneficiaries’ selection will be carried out by ACTED as in reference to WFP’s targeting criteria. Experience required:  Ability to develop curriculum. Previous experience working in subjects related to protection, community empowerment, gender dynamics is a requirement. Strong communication skills. Good Presentation skills. Strong and committed interest in teaching and training, with extensive previous experience in conducting training. Understanding of the aspects like group dynamics and personal psychology.
