Summary of Position
The Syria Network Engagement Lead will be responsible for oversight of the overall programming of Search for Common Ground projects in Syria. S/he will oversee day-to-day operations and implement the project’s activities, ensuring that the program is on-time, within budget, and delivers high-quality results. S/he will provide guidance to project staff in the strategic planning of Search programs in Syria in order to ensure that they meet Search’s quality standards and donors’ expectations. This includes maintaining a regular engagement with stakeholders and networking contacts with local partners and the donor community working on Syria. S/he will also contribute to fundraising efforts and reporting to donors about project progress and success. Lastly, s/he will collaborate closely with the Design, Monitoring and Evaluation team, regional team, as well as trainers and technical experts working on the projects to ensure the deliverables are of high quality, and delivered in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
Lead the project team; provide strategic guidance; ensure coordination and motivation of the team; address health and well-being of the team and among partners; and ensure program quality.
Manage inputs of project delivery partners to agreed standards.
Ensure project delivery teams are structured, staffed, resourced and motivated effectively to enable achievement of agreed project goals.
Develop and maintain proactive, positive and professional relationships with all relevant stakeholders for the project.
Oversee the implementation of activities to achieve agreed outcomes and outputs in logical framework and liaise with stakeholders on the design and implementation.
Contribute to fundraising and program development in close collaboration with the Country Director, including designing and writing of new projects’ proposals.
Support the Country Director in strategic planning for Search’s wider program in Syria.
Monitoring, evaluation and reporting
Developing and overseeing inception and development phases for projects, including recognized tools such as logical frameworks, theories and change and impact frameworks.
Ensuring the project is monitored effectively, that data is reported to the client, risks are highlighted and that lessons are learned from the experience of delivering the project by the project team, partners and other significant stakeholders.
Support the communications team in designing and implementing the communication strategy for the projects under his/her supervision.
Prepare technical reports (including financial reporting) for the donor.
Financial management
In collaboration with the finance team, ensure that the project is managed and delivered in accordance with all agreed financial standards and targets (e.g. fee rates, margin etc.), taking remedial action where required.
Risks and Compliance
Evaluate a range of geo-political and operational risks and make appropriate changes to plans and/or resourcing, as necessary, to mitigate potential difficulties and optimize performance.
Contributes to the overall structuring of the office and in ensuring that internal procedures meet the needs of the office and of projects implementation.
Ensure the project meets all relevant internal and external compliance and client requirements (financial, HR, quality management, regulatory, security etc.), to ensure that SFCG and all project partners operate legally, with integrity, and in a way that manages risk effectively.

Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum of 5-7 years of related experience, including project financial management experience and experience managing projects in Syria.
Strong knowledge of the practice of peacebuilding and conflict transformation in conflict contexts.
Knowledge of major donor rules and regulations, and the ability to manage and prioritize multi-donor funding
Significant experience in fundraising and project management in a non-profit environment
Skills
Proven ability to negotiate multiple relationships with various partners.
Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations
Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
Spoken and written fluency in English and Arabic.
Track record of facilitating dialogue between highly divided communities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
