BACKGROUND: SONBOLA Group for Education & Development (SONBOLA) is a startup grassroots NGO that focuses on delivering educational programs, specifically to fill the gaps of Syria’s education crisis and address the education of Syrian refugee children and youth, with a special focus on quality and sustainability. SONBOLA is currently seeking creative, passionate, and hard-working applicants for the position of Part – Time Accountant. The Accountant prime responsibility is to prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. The Accountant position will be based in Beirut with monthly travels to Sonbola Learning Center in Bekaa. KEY RESPONSABILITIES: Be responsible for purchasing, financial tasks and responsibilities Apply accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information Process payables, expenses reports, and payroll Maintain all necessary records and documentation of transactions and payments Check accounting records, financial statements / reports from Bekaa and Beirut offices to assess accuracy completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards Prepare the month end grant spending reports Support in writing Financial part of proposals, when requested SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: A university degree in finance, accounting or a related business field is required Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs Previous experience in working in NGOs or INGOs Familiarity with major international donor rules and non-profit accounting
