The Senior Mass Communication Assistant will report to the Mass Communication Officer. The incumbent will work on social media related initiatives and on research and reporting as well as editing of protection documents. Additionally, the incumbent will provide functional and administrative support to the protection section on protection related correspondence, filing and ad hoc administrative requests.
The Senior Mass Communication Assistant will also support on liaising with the Sub/Field Offices mass communication focal points as well as outreach volunteers. The incumbent will also help in testing developed materials and tools (i.e. identification of key words for the creation of UNHCR Facebook dashboards and chatbots, etc.) with the refugees to receive their feedback.

UNHCR’s mass communication programme is guided by a robust strategy to provide quality protection for all populations of concern.
Mass communication activities are guided by the UNHCR country protection strategy.
The participation of persons of concern is facilitated through supporting participatory, rights and community based approaches.
Responsibility (process and functions undertaken to achieve results)
Follow up on daily basis the information traffic available in the Facebook accounts managed by refugees in Lebanon and closely monitored by UNHCR.
Refer protection related issues that may arise in the Facebook pages to specific UNHCR focal points in consultation with the Mass Communication Officer.
Liaise with Field Offices and Outreach Volunteers to check the information on services and assistance posted by refugees in the Facebook pages.
Liaise with Field Offices to know how they follow up on the information and referrals provided through via social media, for protection purposes.
Proactively gather, collate and summarize information from the various Facebook pages and produce daily, weekly and monthly reports.
To support refugee involvement in the development of innovation tools being produced by the UNHCR Mass Communication unit and help to test with the Outreach Volunteers managing the Facebook accounts the related information contained in such tools (Facebook chatbot and dashboards).
To help with translations into Arabic of all communication material (SMS, leaflets, website, Q&A, etc.).
Perform other duties as required.

Provide appropriate advice to Supervisor on protection issues arising in social media.
Liaise with field offices communication focal points.
