Education Mentor

Position Summary Teach For Lebanon is looking for an Education Mentor to join its Executive Team. The Education Mentor serves as a critical agent in ensuring sustainability & educational support for the program. This is a high-impact leadership role with a scope of responsibility that involves managing the educational follow up and trainings of the Fellows throughout all phases of the program and equips them with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to become highly effective fellows. The Education Mentor reports regularly to the Head of Education Department and the Chief Executive Officer at the organization. He/she works closely with a team of 18 to 20 Fellows at least who are placed in underprivileged schools throughout Lebanon. His/her tasks include checking lesson plans, providing regular classroom observations, online/phone mentoring, educational and emotional support and managerial planning for workshops and trainings to serve the program. The Education Mentor ensures that professional development is offered to the Fellows, being responsible for their performance in teaching and attitude throughout the Fellowship. Therefore, he or she helps Fellows become ready for placement in schools, and develop needed skills to work steadily towards the mission of eliminating educational inequity in Lebanon. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Manage a group of Fellows to achieve ambitious outcomes in their classrooms Train and support Fellows to establish strong goals, assessments, and plans Observe Fellows in their classrooms to gather information on student learning and teacher proficiency Analyze data and problem solve with Fellows to prioritize the teacher actions and underlying factors that most impact student outcomes Design and execute individual and group learning experiences to ensure that Fellows acquire the knowledge, skills, and mindsets they need to increase their proficiency Develop and support Fellows to be leaders of the movement beyond their two-year commitment Assist in the collection and analysis of participant performance data in the classroom Drive and participate in discrete projects to support the team in reaching ambitious goals Build a healthy relationship with school leaders throughout the academic year across regions to aim for stakeholders satisfaction Lead conflict resolutions between Fellows and partner schools Create and maintain a database of information by appropriate documentation Qualifications and Competences: Deep belief in organization’s mission and vision Bachelor’s degree required – Masters degree is preferable Two to four years of classroom teaching experience Commitment to TFL core values, job ethics, and staff procedures Ability to use data strategically to improve performance Achievement-orientation Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills Excellent interpersonal skills Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes: Identify with the goals of Teach For Lebanon and have a passion for education. Would like to shape something new and take on leadership responsibilities Leadership and management experience An interest in or experience with leadership development Ability to work independently and under pressure Flexible and creative; being able to offer a variety of solutions for any given problem Cooperative and diplomatic Proven skills in report writing Good communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational and team working skills Previous experience in the non-governmental sector in Lebanon Required languages: Arabic, English and French is a plus
