Education Community Liaison Officer (Unhcr Project)

Introduction: Terre des Hommes Italia (TDH IT) is recruiting an Education Community Liaison Officer to support the implementation of an Education project for Syrian Refugees and affected host population in Beirut and Mount Lebanon funded by UNHCR. The project aims at enhancing the access to education and strengthen the resilience of Syrian, Iraqi and other nationalities refugee community living in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, through organization of outreach activities, community-based monitoring and parents’ mobilization in order to promote, facilitate and increase the access of Syrian and other nationalities refugee children to officially recognized education as well as their retention in the formal Lebanese education system. The Education Community Liaison Officer will be responsible for supporting and facilitating in the out reaching and monitoring activities for the Syrians and non-Syrians refugees in Mount Lebanon and Beirut as well as training the education community liaisons. He /She will play a crucial communications role and acts as the link between community liaisons and education team in identifying key issues and concerns as well as facilitate project objectives. Duties and Responsibilities: Be the referent person for all the education community liaisons present in the 2nd shift schools; Be responsible for education community liaisons’ capacity building. Liaise with the target schools and to be the representative of TDH IT with the School Principals; Establish and maintain an effective relationship between the community liaisons and the school principals. Supporting the schools in the enrolment process of the Syrian and non-Syrian and vulnerable Lebanese children according the criteria set by MEHE and UNHCR; Ensure monitoring of project implementation in accordance with the Logical Framework; Ensure data collection and sources of verification; Program regular visits to the schools to follow on the performance of ECLs in the process of monitoring and evaluation; Engage and facilitate community meetings focus groups, awareness sessions and campaigns, trainings in cooperation with the Education Team. Contribute to prepare relevant documents (including brochures, information notes, information board updates) for target communities; Providing timely and detailed reporting of project activities to the Education Coordinator; Work closely and effectively with TDH IT Lebanon staff; Represents TDH IT in field base multi agency and overall interagency cluster where appropriate. Qualifications and experience: A university degree is required. A background in communication, education or community services or equivalent areas is preferable. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills including Well-developed knowledge of local and refugee community cultures through prior involvement in the community. Good knowledge of the community resources within the municipality/school district; Familiarity with interview techniques; familiarity with local social agencies available to deal with problems in the area; Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English and Arabic sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position; Proficient in the operation of computers and knowledge of business support software including Word, Excel and Outlook. Commitment to the aims, principles and values of TDH IT. Ability to work well in a team and under pressure and in response to changing needs. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering information. Availability of driving license
