Volunteer - Outreach Programme (Hotline)

The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is recruiting two volunteers for the outreach program (also see the other vacancy of CLDH). Under the direct supervision of the Executive manager and in coordination with the Protection Monitorings officer and assistant. Purpose/objective of the position: Outreach hotline volunteer The volunteer will be responsible for answering the CLDH hotline. Vulnerable people in Lebanon will contact CLDH hotline in cases of emergencies. The volunteer will be in charge of answering their questions and listening to their needs. The CLDH hotline volunteer will be the person dealing with the most urgent cases, sometimes related to detention or arrest, other times related to social and/or medical problems. Moreover, the volunteer will be responsible for an adequate and fast follow up, either with the lawyers, the social worker, the doctor or the protection officer. Responsibilities/duties: • The volunteer will be answering CLDH’s hotline. • He/she will be responsible for the assessment of their needs and an adequate response; • He/she will be able to identify other NGO’s, INGO’s or other organizations for referrals; • Do follow up with the beneficiary (under supervision of CLDH’s staff); • Attend the weekly meeting to address gaps and problems in the humanitarian assistance in Lebanon; • Write monthly reports and advice CLDH’s staff about trends in humanitarian assistance; • Directly collaborate with CLDH’s staff concerning follow up. Professional Standards All CLDH staff is required to adhere to CLDH and Centre Nassim Codes of conducts. Experience required: Social work background preferred. Familiarity with the humanitarian field and the Lebanese humanitarian sector. Experience in working with vulnerable people such as refugees, (ex) detainees, and people with diseases is preferred. Competencies: • Fluency in Lebanese Arabic is required. Moreover, a basic knowledge of English is needed. • Be a social and welcoming person who wants to make people feel at ease. • Be assertive and reactive. • Have a passion for Human Rights and helping deprived people in Lebanon. • Maturity and professional ability to handle sensitive information and ability to respect the confidentiality of such information while working with CLDH and even after the contract ends.
