Environment Compliance Specialist

    Background: Appropriate environmental management is essential to the development of sustainable Value chains, particularly in sectors that are highly dependent on natural resources and environmental services. Lebanon faces significant environmental issues related to water and Land management; all sectors, including the agriculture, tourism and industry both Contribute to and are impacted by environmental degradation and unsustainable use ofresources. The LIVCD project is committed to sustainable development through sound environmental  Management of all project activities, and to building awareness and capacity for environmental sustainability, safety and conservation among beneficiaries.  The LIVCD project will achieve full environmental compliance of project activities in accordance with 22CFR216 through implementation of a comprehensive Environmental Management System  (EMS). The Environmental Compliance Specialist will lead LIVCD environmental  management initiatives.    Responsibilities:    The Environmental Compliance Specialist will: Design and document the LIVCD’s Environmental Review Process (ERP), in coordination with the DAI Environmental Compliance (IEE Assessment) specialist and Knowledge and Performance Management Advisor, and integrate the ERP into LIVCD project management processes.   Conduct environmental screening of project activities and document results with the Environmental Review Form; Develop activity Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring Plans (EMMP) to document environmental mitigation actions to reduce risk of impacts and monitoring measures during activity implementation;   For activities requiring EMMP per environmental screening results, document the Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring Plans, and the EMMP Results at conclusion of each activity;  Assist in the development of PERSUAP and other requirements as may be required by the Chief of Party.
