Office Security Officer (2 Positions)

The organization accomplishes its mission by implementing targeted cost-effective relief and development programs that improve the lives of these vulnerable groups.   Role Summary   Provide security and safety support to all staff in the Akkar office, primarily through the control of access and through the control of visitors to the building. Will perform the role as reception staff to efficiently and courteously handle enquiries from visitors.  Where necessary will respond to security incidents and will interact with the local police. Will ensure that the office and related program operations are compliant with IRD policy and procedure in relation to safety and security.       Essential Job Functions:   Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:   Control staff and visitor access to the office during working hours, ensuring the office is secure. Act as reception staff to answer questions from visitors and to control their movements in the office. Provide office administration support to staff members as required. Review and monitor CCTV as required. Ensure that relevant aspects of security policies and procedures are in place. Respond to security incidents in the office, such as acts of aggression by visitors, yet not to engage in any physical or violent action against such visitors. In extreme cases, alert police and other relevant law enforcement units Ensure that staff members are proficient in the use of safety and security equipment. Oversee fire drills and other safety practices. Control journey management processes to ensure staff movements are tracked. Coordinate with IRD’s Security Focal Point (SFP) and if necessary, other relevant sources of security to ensure accurate security information can be obtained for the area that office staff operate in. Provide routine security situation reporting to the IRD Security Focal Point (SFP) as requested by the SFP. Report incidents to staff and managers in line with IRD policy requirements. Any other task as assigned by the direct supervisor or country program management.     Qualifications, Experience and Role Requirements   Secondary School certificate; University degree preferred. Proven experience working in a civilian security role. Preference for formal security and / or safety qualifications. Excellent interpersonal skills working with fellow staff, managers and the public. Experience working in an office environment, preferably with and NGO. Good administrative skills. Knowledge of technical security measures, such as CCTV. Fluency in spoken in written Arabic. Preference if for fluency in spoken and written English also.     Success Factors:   Able to build networks of people and organizations that can provide security information. Preferably able to complete on-line security training courses. Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, diplomacy, willingness to listen and respect for colleagues. Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team. Must be able to demonstrate an extremely high level of trustworthiness. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. Must be flexible and willing to perform other duties. Tactfulness, enthusiasm towards assigned tasks, good human relationship skills, integrity, honesty, and the ability to work under pressure to accomplish work tasks within assigned time periods. Good communication skills. Strong team player with high team spirit and positive attitude.
