Water And Sanitation Officer

These attitudes and believes shall guide our actions and relationships. 1.      Role and responsibilities The Water and Sanitation Officer is responsible for leading technical assessments of Water and Sanitation activities for houses, schools and community project, etc… in line with NRC’s project criteria. Generic responsibilities Monitor and report on the project activities and ensure compliance with plans and NRC standards Mobilize communities and community leaders for the water and sanitation activities Suggest new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities  Report all technical related concerns Carry out data collection as required Prepare and file relevant documents according to procedures Investigate and facilitate introduction of new technology, methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities Specific responsibilities Work with the Team Leader & Shelter and WASH Technical Coordinators on the implementation of projects including meeting with refugee and host communities, assessments, monitoring, distribution, etc. Organize technical assessments of properties and produce accurate drawings, reports, measurements (BoQs) and/or photographs as evidence. Support, guide, and lead the WSAs under the close supervision of the Technical Coordinator. Communicate with home owners and community focal points to give a clear and accurate picture of the households and community’s past, current and future situation. Ensure appropriate documentation of all WASH related activities Organize and lead on conducting technical surveys, questionnaires or assessments as required Submit daily and weekly reports to the Team Leader, Technical Coordinator, and Project Manager on the activities and action points assigned Ensure and promote efficient and cost-effective use of NRC’s assets and resources in order to maximize benefit to beneficiaries Assist in planning distribution of Non Food Items (NFIs) Follow up on referrals and troublesome cases. Rapid technical assessments and all technical annexes BoQs production, revision, and approval duplication Supervision of work Follow-up of troublesome cases Ensuring closure of work by the anticipated date Respond and follow up on referred cases Participate in the design of tools to be used by the WASH team Plan the daily and weekly activities of WSAs in relation to: Critical interfaces Team Leader, Coordinator, Database Assistant and Project Manager Shelter Technical and Social Field Officers and Shelter Technical and Social Field Assistants NRC programs’ field staff Beneficiaries Community focal points Local authorities 2.      Competencies 1. Professional competencies Generic professional competencies: Bachelor degree in Engineering Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience with NGOs, charities, humanitarian work or similar organisations Knowledge of the NGO operations and dynamics of the humanitarian sector as well as the north area is a plus Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience: English Proficiency MS Office Proficiency, and CAD Solid experience in assessments, surveying and reporting 2.
