Main Purpose
Provide outpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions.
Accountabilities
Apply medical knowledge and skills for diagnosis and prevention. Carry out outpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols.
Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking if they have understood
Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity.
Inform the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patient’s illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in collaboration with the medical activity manager in order to optimize the quality of care.
Know MSF medical protocols are and ensure they are followed and implemented.
Ensure universal precautions are followed at all times in order to reduce bio-hazard risks and improve infection control.
Ensure professional confidentiality is respected.
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
OPD Consultations for all children under 15 years old in PHC Shatila: Provide quality care according to MSF protocols/guidelines.
OPD consultations for non-communicable disease (chronic disease) patients in PHC Shatila and/or home-based care program in Burj el Barajne: Provide quality care according to MSF protocols/guidelines.
OPD consultations for newborns as post natal care in Women Health Centre in Shatila
Provide essential health information to the patients and family to increase public health awareness.
Referral of cases: Identify patients in need of secondary health care based on clinical diagnosis and referral criteria and ensure timely referral in collaboration with the referral team.
Surveillance: develop a good understanding of the health conditions of the population and promptly report any concerns to the line-manager.
Management of daily work: Ensure registration of patients and proper documentation of essential/relevant information in the patient files.
Communication: Ensure respectful and emphatic attitude towards patients, caretakers and colleagues.
Training/ Meetings: Attend training and meetings conducted by MSF. Provide trainings when required.
Additional tasks: Perform any other additional duties given by the immediate supervisor in order to allow the organization to function optimally
Competencies
Flexibility : The MD will cover leaves of the existing team of medical doctors on weekdays and therefore will have an irregular roster.
