Field Researcher (3 Persons)

Title: Field Researcher (3 persons)   Location: Bekaa, Lebanon     Working area: North Bekaa   Contract: Service agreement   Timeframe: 6 – 10 March 2017 (thereafter on need basis)   Oxfam Purpose: To work with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering   Oxfam in Lebanon is establishing a pool of field researchers that can be called upon to support qualitative data collection activities for monitoring & evaluation and/or research purposes, in North Bekaa and potentially other parts of Lebanon.  Data collection can happen between Mondays and Saturdays.   Qualitative data collection support is required in the period 6 to 10 March 2017 (possibly to be extended) for a study involving focus group discussions and semi-structured interviews.     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Support Oxfam’s MEAL Team (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) to ensure quality data collection from the field on casual basis Participate in training sessions on the qualitative tools and data collection protocols prior to the start of field data collection Assist in the pre-testing of data collection tools Carry out qualitative data collection in selected areas in North Bekaa using provided tools, and adhering to agreed procedures and guidelines. This will involve facilitating and recording of focus group discussions and/or conducting semi-structured interviews Participate in post-data collection debriefs and discussions Report/ transcribe collected data (in English) and support the documentation and coding of collected data in English as per agreed methods using provided templates Be available to provide clarifications during the data analysis phase, and perform any changes requested by the evaluation team Assist in qualitative data analysis and interpretation if required       SKILLS AND COMPETENCE: Currently pursuing or completed Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, or a relevant field from a recognised university Experience in carrying out qualitative data collection and transcription is required, including demonstrable experience in the facilitation and recording of focus group discussions Experience in performing qualitative data analysis is a plus Good command of English and Arabic (reading, writing and speaking). Excellent note-taking and reporting skills Knowledge of and practical experience with MS Office Experience working with refugees is preferable Excellent ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, and excellent interpersonal skills Flexibility, ability to work under pressure, and commitment to meet deadlines Strong commitment to gender equality and social justice, as well as Oxfam’s mission   Interested candidates are invited to submit: Curriculum Vitae A short cover letter (not exceeding one page) describing how the skills and competencies described above are met.
