General Position Summary: Under the direction of the Country Director, the Area Manager will be responsible for the overall planning and implementation of project activities in his/her geographic area of operation. The Area Manager will directly manage the program staff based in that area and ensure project activities are implemented according to schedule, budget and required quality.
Responsibilities and Duties of Area Manager
Strategy development and implementation
Ensure full application of participatory methodologies like Participatory Learning in facilitation of community dialogue meetings, and trainings and workshops
Support the project and partner staff to establish a system to monitor and evaluate program activities and impact on an ongoing basis.
Provide direct and ongoing supervision and managerial support to project and partner staff based to ensure effective implementation of program activities
Participate in Un coordination meetings and represent ANERA in these meetings
Support the development of partnerships with national NGOs, CBOs and other agencies as needed
Participate in project team meetings as required and facilitate field visits for donors and staff
Program development and Management
Oversee the development of program, staff and partner work plans, and ensure regular one-to-one sessions and performance reviews to review progress and resolve any concerns or issues
Visit project sites regularly, including partner sites, to provide appropriate administrative and technical assistance, monitor and oversee activities
Build the capacity of select implementation partners to improve their technical, organizational and management capacity
Regularly meet with and communicate with the Project coordinators to discuss program achievements, especially when they deviate from the original plan
Prepare monthly reports to the Country Director and other staff to capture program impact and development
Support and facilitate team and partner development, encourage active participation of team members and support positive relationships between members
Financial management
In close collaboration with the Head of Finance and the Head of Programs
Ensure effective implementation and compliance with the whole Finance & guidance Manual and compliance with procedures required by grant or contract agreements
Oversee the development and implementation of annual country budgets
Ensure the preparation, accuracy and timely submission of financial reports that comply with grant or contract agreements and ensure compliance with all aspects, policies and donor funding
Human Resources Management and Area Development
In close collaboration with the Human Resources Officer and the Head of Programs Operations
Provide leadership support to Area Program staff and promote best practices
Coordinate regular reviews and update of the human resources policies and procedures for the Area
Ensure compliance with the overall human resources management manual and the national labor laws.
Provide Coaching and Counselling reports when necessary to develop staff capacity
