Protection Technical Manager-Khouyout

Job title: Protection Technical Manager Work Location: Bekaa Valley, Coordination Office Division/Department: Management Reports to: Project Manager Full-Time   Duration of Initial Contract : 12 Months   Project Description   Four local civil society organizations, working with vulnerable communities in Lebanon, have come together in a collaborative developmental project entitled Khouyout. These four organizations are SAWA for Development and Aid, Kayany, Basmeh and Zeitooneh, and Women Now for Development. This project will utilize the expertise of all the organizations, in order to contribute to the advancement of local communities in the Bekaa Valley.   The project seeks to improve social stability between communities in Lebanon through a comprehensive and local approach to adults and children. To do so, activities will revolve around three pillars: (i)  support to children  (ii) life skills  for adults and young, (iii) protection support. Khouyout will adopt a comprehensive approach to services provision in the targeted areas, through two major elements: the first is the establishment of four community centres which will offer developmental services to both the refugee population and the local host community, and attached to each centre, a mobile unit to reach out remote areas and informal settlements.     Duties and Responsibilities: Provide technical consultancy and support to Protection Manager in each of the four Community Centers, alongside technical supervision of all team members where suitable Develop curriculums, policies and procedures for protection programs with women, men and children Ensure that all activities within the program are in line with overall objective of the Khuyut project Hold monthly meetings with Protection management staff, and provide feedback and action plan for the Project Manager Coordinate with two other technical directors (for Skills Development and Education) in order to ensure the wellbeing of all project participants, in particular when addressing sensitive or critical situations To ensure that Core Humanitarian Principles are being applied in all programs, including Do No Harm, Neutrality and Impartiality, and Non-Discrimination Develop, update and ensure compliance with all codes of conduct and child protection policies Provide input in situations that require leadership and management skills Support in the development of workplans for the Protection team in each Community Center, to ensure that the activities are meeting requirements, and that the quality of program implementation is equal across centers  Liaise with overall Project Manager to provide feedback on the Protection program from all centers Contribute to recruitment process for all Protection staff   Ensure that implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools and report on problems in the implementation of the program to the Project Manager; Develop comprehensive and tailored capacity building plans for CP and GBV staff and implementing partners based on respective needs and ensuring high-quality services ; Actively participate in field-working groups and work closely with other sectors, namely Livelihood, WASH, Education, and Relief.   Competencies & Skills:   Strong technical knowledge of protection, and mental health and psychosocial support issues  Ability to organize and facilitate capacity-building initiatives, including trainings for colleagues and partners Familiarity with community-based protection programming and ability to incorporate lessons learned from similar experiences; Strong written and oral communication skills, effective in representation and liaison with external parties. Above average computer literacy (incl. Excel), and holder of a valid driver’s license.- active approach Knowledge of Syrian crisis context, in particular in the Bekaa     Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:     Education: University degree or higher education relevant to sociology, psychology, psychosocial support or other relevant degree   Experience: Thorough understanding of best practices and strategies in protection programming (protection monitoring, GBV, Child protection) Significant knowledge of International Human Rights and Refugee Law. Proven experience in community mobilization At least 5 years of proven experience in implementation of protection programming; human rights and/or advocacy work; Proven experience working in emergency settings.   Language: Fluent in English and Arabic
