Life Skills Manager

The consortium “Khouyout” made up of four local civil society organizations, working with vulnerable communities in Lebanon, has come together in a collaborative developmental project. These four organizations are SAWA for Development and Aid, Kayany, Basmeh and Zeitooneh, and Women Now for Development. This project will utilize the expertise of all the organizations, in order to contribute to the advancement of local communities in the Bekaa Valley. The project seeks to improve social stability between communities in Lebanon through a comprehensive and local approach to adults and children. To do so, activities will revolve around three pillars: (i) support to children (ii) life skills for adults and young, (iii) protection support. Khouyout will adopt a comprehensive approach to services provision in the targeted areas, through two major elements: the first is the establishment of four community centers which will offer developmental services to both the refugee population and the local host community, and attached to each center, a mobile unit to reach out remote areas and informal settlements. Responsibilities: ● Provide Life skills Training expertise in developing and supporting the program and implementation of the courses. ● Review existing training needs analysis to determine current gaps, requirements, and challenges. ● Ensure that the training material match the relevant standards skills needs in the area and the market, and the specifications set out by the Consortium. ● Monitoring, through field visits, the progress of the training program and ensuring implementation of the requirements are carried out. ● ensuring the organization and running of the program and that all timelines are met and that required actions are carried out in a thorough and timely fashion. ● Liaise with the Life Skills partners such as as IECD, BC, CNAM. ● Conduct an assessment of trainers in person and through existing information and documentation, prepare a detailed assessment report on the way forward for these trainers, incorporate report recommendations into the plan for the program envisaged, and provide the necessary training for trainer when needed. ● Provide recommendations, based on concrete opportunities available, on how trainees can best learn and apply the lessons provided in these courses, for optimal knowledge retention, in particular, consideration should be given to methods such as on-the-job training, apprenticeships, and/or peer shadowing. ● Ensure all administrative, management and reporting requirements to the project manager are in place.   Work experience: ● minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching and specifically training and/or post-school education ● Experience in delivering employment and training programs in countries with high unemployment and skilled labor demand/supply gap issues is essential. ● Experience in developing training material is preferred. ● Project management experience - in particular within a complex environment. ● Experience with a humanitarian funded (donor funded) project is desirable as well.   Competencies: The Life Skills Training Manager must display the following basic competencies: ● Sound management expertise in designing short-term and long-term vocational training strategies. ● Excellent interpersonal skills, strong negotiation skills, able to work well in a team. ● Experience in remote work and management of projects and personnel.  ● Excellent computer skills. ● Expertise in provision of technical advisory services on vocational training. ● Project planning, design and management. ● Ability to plan and prioritize work activities to meet organizational goals, and to organize and oversee work processes efficiently to achieve quality results. ● Political, cultural sensitivity and commitment to diversity. ● Ability to communicate effectively with and relate to people of different cultures, demonstrating an ability to see issues from different perspectives
