Communication Officer

In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:   Draft a comprehensive visibility plan for the EU education projects in coordination with the Donor Relations Unit (DRU) and the Public Information Office (PIO), as well as a comprehensive analysis of expected communication results.    Develop, implement and monitor communications and visibility programs for project activities in coordination with DRU and PIO, hereunder both within the camps (externally) and within the agency (internally).     Share information on the expected benefits of the project internally and externally (camp residents, civil society organization, donors); designs creative and informative documents to be shared externally.    Works closely with Public Information Office (PIO) and communications teams as well as the relevant UNRWA departments, on the key messages of the campaign to further visibility of the project.     Create and support initiatives that will increase community awareness of project activities; for example, by arranging exhibitions of photos, maps and display items.   Arrange and host regular meetings and seminars with the community to explain the significance and benefits of the project; create presentation materials required e.g. PowerPoint slides and fact sheets (in in-design) and utilize existing materials and displays where appropriate to boost visibility of project activities.     Proactively and regularly seek information on the visibility and progress of project activities, through meetings and conversations with Education In Emergency (EiE) Project Manager.   Appropriately manages the work plan for the communication and visibility activities and keeps track of the budget breakdown for expected expenses in coordination with Education In Emergency (EiE Project Manager.    In coordination with PIO, drafts and publishes relevant information about the project activities and beneficiary community; enhances the online presence of the project (Facebook, YouTube, UNRWA website, Twitter).   Drafts and implements an internal education communications plan to facilitates inter-division/unit/team coordination by good passage of information (i.e. newsletter); actively follows up with UNRWA staff and stakeholders in the field on issues raised by the beneficiary population through the dialogue coordinated with the communication teams. Assists EiE Project Manager providing visibility to the donors by setting up signboards; writing press releases and human interest stories, organizing ceremonies, and producing TV spots about the project.   Perform other such duties as may be assigned by the supervisor. .
