In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent:
(A) Provides support to the dissemination and implementation of UNRWA Child Protection Framework within the Education Programme, in close collaboration with the protection unit. Ensures integration and mainstreaming of UNRWA protection policy and standards in the education programme, including: inclusive education, and learning support, psychosocial support initiatives to reduce school dropouts; and initiatives to ensure violence –free schools;
(B) Undertakes regular field visits to UNRWA’s five areas of operations in Lebanon, to support education staff in conducting needs assessment of protection threat and the development of protection plans to mitigate and prevent violence against children.
(C) Supports the development and roll out of child protection internal and external referral mechanisms for children experiencing child protection concerns and/or at risk.
(D) Supports capacity building initiatives targeting education staff, with a focus on safe identification and referral of child protection concerns; child safeguarding; child protection national and international standards. Give technical support on child protection to education teams, school counselor and teachers, in close coordination with the child protection officer.
(E) Coordinates and supports the school counseling technical supervisor in developing child protection tools and guidance for the delivery of psychosocial support and counseling with the school counseling programme.
(F) Attends protection coordination meetings at national and local level as required and ensures that the national office is kept informed of situations having an impact on child protection. Maintains an overview of the situation and identify crucial gaps in service provision that require to be addressed;(G) Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
