Technical Officer

Result area   1.    Supporting the building of knowledge and skills of CBO members and others working directly with children and Youth.   Supports community-based organisations to raise awareness, and understanding on child protection; Facilitates competency building workshops and sessions in their technical area; Coordinates with Community Facilitation Officers to prepare, organize, and carry out knowledge and skill building sessions; In collaboration with the Community Facilitation Officer, supports and follows up on CBO members comprehension and skills development to verify that competencies have been developed; Identifies at-risk children and arranges referrals; Provides the CBOs and other relevant community members with information regarding the available services and organizations operating in program areas; Ensures child protection concerns are communicated to the Child Protection Focal Point; Participates in the monitoring of projects. Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of an outreach plan for each community.     Result: CBO Members and others in the community have improved knowledge and skills to address the needs and rights of marginalized children and youth. At risk children are referred to the relevant services.   2.    Involvement of Children, youth, parents and caregivers Ensure that the activities are done in a safe, clean, hazard free; Ensure that all beneficiaries have the opportunity to participate in the program and project activities in a non-discriminatory  as well as age and gender sensitive and appropriate way; Encourage participants to be actively involved Ensure that the children feel safe, comfortable and respected; Ensure that all children and caregivers are aware of any accountability/ complaint mechanisms Ensure that parents/caregivers get frequent feedback about their child’s participation;   Result: children, youth, parents, and other caregivers are active participants in all aspects of projects including decision making, monitoring and evaluation.   Supporting the improvement of project quality   Participates in developing concept notes, project proposals including supporting needs assessments, identification of locations, etc. Supports the involvement of children, youth, parents, caregivers and CBO members in project design, monitoring and evaluation; Supports the revision of existing methodologies; Supports the development and piloting of new methodologies; Supports the organizing of M&E activities; ·         Supports the development of monitoring and evaluation tools ·         Supports data collection and analysis;     Result: Improvement in the quality of projects and especially ensuring that project design reflect the realities of marginalized children and youth.       3.     Administration tasks Prepares and submits a regular report to their manager/ supervisor; Fulfils relevant administrative tasks for the project that they are part of. Any other task assigned by the line manager   Result: administration of activities are handled effectively and efficiently and all reports meet or exceed minimum standards.
