Junior Project Officer

  The Junior Project Officer shall facilitate and coordinate the implementation of the afore-mentioned project component. The Junior Project Officer reports directly to the Project Coordinator. The Junior Project Officer performs the following specific tasks: Conducts day-to-day project management, with a specific focus on timely delivery of project outputs, effective communication with partners and donors, and resources management (time and resource plans). Formulates and drafts project outputs (studies, reports, presentations, speeches, publications, etc.) as well as policy briefs and papers. Liaises and cooperates with ICMPD, the EU Delegation in Lebanon, beneficiary agencies, other projects and other national and international stakeholders as required. Co-ordinates the logistical preparations of conferences, project steering committees, management meetings, expert missions, training events, etc., including necessary follow-up action and completion of documentation. In conjunction with the Project Coordinator and the project team at ICMPD HQ, monitors the work plan, project activities and budget execution. Provides information to the respective ICMPD Project Manager regarding required updates of the work plan and budget. Keeps the ICMPD project team informed about developments in Lebanon that could affect the project. Contributes to the drafting of project material, such as strategies, action plans, training modules, presentations, among others. Contributes to the visibility requirements of the donor, the project and ICMPD activities in the region, including media contacts. Performs other duties as assigned by the Project Manager. Core Values, Qualification and Experience Core Values Demonstrates appreciation of the multicultural nature of the organisation and the diversity of its staff and promotes ICMPD values: Commitment, Integrity, Partnership, Respect and Innovation in actions and decisions.   Qualification and Experience University degree equivalent to a Master’s degree in human rights, immigration and asylum law, political science, international relations, business administration or any other relevant disciplines to the project. A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably including the technical management of EU and internally-funded projects, organising and overseeing administrative and logistical support to the project, and executing project budgets. Previous experience in the provision of management / advisory services in the field of security-sector and human rights related projects highly desirable. Knowledge and understanding of migration and border management issues and principles; familiarity with the EU Integrated Border Management concept for external cooperation. Proven organisational, communication, mobilisation, facilitation and change management skills. Proven ability to develop solid partnerships with high-level officials in order to achieve project results. Strong skills in report writing, communication and intercultural sensitivity required. Prior work experience in Lebanon or in the region would be an advantage. An excellent verbal and written command of English and Arabic is essential. Good analytical and interpersonal skills and ability to establish harmonious working relations in an international and multicultural environment. Knowledge of the issues related to refugees and human rights would be an asset. Proficiency in MS Windows applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Respect and tolerance for cultural diversity; ability to work in a multicultural environment.
