Wathab Engineer

The ICRC’s Water and Habitat department aims at ensuring minimum acceptable material conditions in places of detention are achieved through interventions namely in the areas of:   Water supply, storage and distribution. Sanitation, waste management and environmental issues. Restoration and management of electro-mechanical systems. Construction, rehabilitation, space management and safety of structure.   The nature of intervention is adjusted in line with the ICRC recommendations for places of detention in the field of water, sanitation, hygiene and habitat in prisons in collaboration with the concerned authorities. The desired outcome of Wathab in detention activities is not only an immediate response to emergency needs, but also the facilitation of permanent improvements to the places of detention infrastructure.          Minimum required knowledge & experience: University degree (civil engineering, architecture or mechanical engineering). Good knowledge on project design and management. 3 - 5 years work experience in a similar field, preferably humanitarian. Very good knowledge of written and spoken English Very good computer skills including AutoCAD, MS project, spreadsheets, etc. Capacity to work independently. Good analytical skills.         Standard function description: Contributes to the implementation of a WatHab Project/programs: plans, organizes and monitors the implementation mainly independently. Executes a variety of tasks that require technical skills for the implementation of Wathab programs, according to given instructions mainly independently. Maintains contacts with interlocutors/authorities at local level mainly independently. Contributes to written reporting. Contributes to the preparation of PfR and budget. Contract type:1year renewable
