Project: Enhance the Role of Youth in the Local Development within the Host Communities in North Lebanon
Time-Frame for this assignment: 15 Nov 2016- 15 Jan 2016
Duration: 8 days
Location: Akkar _ Tekrit and Khreibet el Jendi
Requirement Conduct 2 capacity building workshops (eight days in total) for municipal members in both Tekrit and Khbreibet el Jendi on most relevant and needed skills namely youth mobilization, engaging youth in social responsibilities and basic GBV skills targeting at least 20 municipal members (each), in two localities in the North.
About the project
The theory of change for this project falls under the fact that the needs and aspiration of vulnerable communities go beyond meeting their immediate needs – they strive to be independent through acquiring skills and knowledge that would allow them to support their families and most importantly, meaningfully contribute to combat GBV including sexual violence in their communities. Therefore, building resilience and preparedness of young vulnerable women and men is imperative to constructively engage in different processes and structures, including social responsibility, human rights, gender equality, and non-violence.
Overall goal of this assignment
Engaging with local stakeholders at the community level (municipalities) through building their capacities on issues related to youth engagement in local development and ending violence against women while highlighting the role of municipalities in gender-sensitive local development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The Consultant will be responsible for conducting 2 training workshops (4 days each) on on issues related to youth engagement in local development and ending violence against women while highlighting the role of municipalities in gender-sensitive local development.
- The Consultant is to share with the project team the relevant training tools, materials to be used during the workshop to ensure these are culturally sensitive to the targeted population;
- The Consultant is to provide progress reports after finalizing activities in each targeted area, and to provide support in the application of the quality assurance procedures –in close coordination with the project team namely the project coordinator – through assessing impact of the training on increased knowledge and/or attitudes;
Skills required
- Previous extensive experience in providing capacity building workshops targeting stakeholders groups on community mobilization, community development and active citizenship.
- Previous experience in working in rural (high risk) villages.
- Previous knowledge of the cultural aspects (norms, traditions and beliefs) related to most vulnerable population in Lebanon (including Syrian, and Palestinian refugees and host communities).
