Projects Manager

Summary of Position  The projects manager will be responsible for providing expertise and guidance to SFCG Project Coordinators in the implementation of project activities. S/he will work closely with SFCG Lebanon staff, local partners, civil society organizations and stakeholders to ensure timely and quality implementation of all activities. The projects manager will oversee day-to-day progress of activities and will ensure that the implementation of all projects is meeting SFCG quality standards, is completed on-time, within budget, and to maximum effect. This includes providing a regular presence with stakeholders and networking contacts with local government, international and local agencies. The projects manager will be responsible for guiding and coaching SFCG staff devoted to all projects in conformity with SFCG’s internal operating practices and donors’ regulations. S/he will also collaborate closely with the MENA team, as well as trainers and technical experts working on the projects to ensure the deliverables are of high quality, and delivered in a timely manner. Responsibilities -        Advise and support Project Coordinators on the implementation of project activities ensuring good quality action; -        Identify implementation challenges and provide support to coordinators on strategies to overcome such challenges; -        Work with Project Coordinators, Finance Manager and Procurement Manager to ensure that all the projects are implemented on time and within budget; -        Assess and build the capacities of Project Coordinators to equip them with the skills relevant to their projects; -        Provide advice and guidance to project coordinators on how to manage stress and intense working periods through tools for strategic planning, prioritization, time management; -        Provide guidance to project coordinators on how to build and cultivate professional and constructive relations with local partners and stakeholders including local authorities; -         Ensure that Project Coordinators have a longer term and broader vision of their own project and find a balance between outputs delivery and outcomes achievement in coordination with Program Director and DM&E and Learning Manager; -        Develop and maintain proactive and professional relationships with SFCG coordinators, local partner organizations, other NGOs, donors, politicians, key government officials, civil society groups, religious groups, media outlets, etc; -        Oversee the development of training curricula for the projects currently being implemented by SFCG Lebanon; -        Share his/her expertise in the implementation of peacebuilding projects in sensitive and volatile contexts with Project Coordinators; -        Maintain regular written and oral reporting with SFCG’s Country Director; -        Advise SFCG Lebanon office on maintaining responsible media coverage of program events and issues related to SFCG mission and programming in Lebanon. -        As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties   Requirements and Qualifications -          Minimum of 5- 7 years of related experience, including project financial management experience. -          Experience in youth programmes, media engagement, gender issues and/or Security Sector Reform will be an asset. -          Experience in the field of conflict transformation and the Lebanese and Syrian context. -          Familiarity with rules and regulations of EU, US and UN donors is an advantage. -          Previous experience in conducting training and facilitate dialogue will be an asset. -          Proven track record of linking strategic thinking and project implementation. Skills •         Proven ability to negotiate multiple relationships with various partners. •         Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations •         Excellent interpersonal and networking skills •         Spoken and written fluency in Arabic and English and/or French. •         Track record of curriculum development for training in a broad range of context and subjects. •         Track record of conducting inter-cultural dialogue between highly divided communities. •         Strong oral and written communications skills. •         Cultural sensitivity and adaptability. •         Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel. •         Strong organizational skills and attention to-detail.
