English Teacher

Background: This ToR is intended to outline the terms and conditions to hire a part-time teacher of English to provide regular English lessons for staff. We are looking for a skilled and experienced, creative teacher who can deliver clear and structured lessons in English. General Purpose: The main responsibility of the teacher is to help the Oxfam Staff (different levels) to understand English related to their job and focusing on their developing business English language skills. Lessons will also include building conversational, reading and writing skills. The most important focus will be on building professional and business English skills related to the needs of the workplace and relevant to the staff duties including report-writing and professional vocabulary. You will be required to develop relevant lesson plans and homework assignments, track individual progress and monitor and support the overall progress of the students.  The duties will range from the preparation of course work, planning and teaching classes and the marking of work handed in. Key Responsibilities: Organising and delivering classroom lessons to Oxfam staff. Developing English lesson plans, ensuring an appropriately balanced, broad and relevant curriculum which should incorporate the needs of Oxfam staff in terms of working with other staff, report-writing, taking instructions in English and responding to and communicating about their work and duties. Evaluating a students' class work and assignments, including the provision of progress reports to individuals. Produce creative learning exercises during classes. Preparing classroom and coursework materials, homework assignments, and handouts. Recording and maintain accurate student attendance records and grades. Classroom management. Alert the appropriate staff to any problems experienced by students and make recommendations as to how these may be resolved. Maintaining discipline in the classroom. Creating a vibrant teaching atmosphere. Skills and Competencies: Excellent communication skills, especially in business English. Highly conscientious and committed to the highest standards of professional service. Ability to work in stressful situations and under pressure. Good listening skills. Planning and organisational skills. Patience Fluent English and Arabic language skills. Experience required:  1 to 2 years experience teaching business English (or English in general) to adult learners. Experience teaching English to NGOs is an asset. Education degree: Bachelor Degree Field of education, University Level Degree in English Language or any other similar program
