Nurse (Vaccination)

Main Purpose: Provide vaccination care, follow up, inventory and orders of vaccines, according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population. Accountabilities Specific objectives Take vaccination history from patients presenting and evaluate the need for vaccinations within the Vaccination Schedule Know, implement and promote the catch-up schedule of vaccinations for under-vaccinated patients Provide vaccinations to patients using high quality care and universal hygiene standards, bio-hazard prevention and infection control. Manage and take responsibility for (in liaison with the Pharmacy Manager) the cold chain process in the PHC according to the MSF protocols and procedures, communicating issues efficiently and effectively through relevant communication lines Participate in the department-related pharmacy and medical equipment control and maintenance carrying out inventories, carrying out stock takes of medicines and material at every team changeover, ensuring no material is taken or distributed without prior authorization, checking its quality and its functioning, storage conditions, doing follow-up of expired drugs. Carry out admission, surveillance and follow-up of patients meaning assessment of their health state evolution, and identification of emergency situation or any deterioration, Carry out and supervise administrative procedures and documents (fill in patients files, forms, consumptions, statistics, etc.) Participate in health education of the patient (and family) when necessary Ensure an appropriate written/oral handover Report any problematic situations and cases that may arise to supervisor Fill in all necessary registers and health files Participate in data collection and keep doctors/supervisors informed. Be aware of the importance and appropriate use of the Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Kit General Respect medical confidentiality When needed, assist in the general work of the department, including but not limited to ensure triage of patients in waiting areas  during busy times and/or during emergencies detecting the priority acute/emergency cases, carrying out first aid care when necessary and referring them to the doctor assist in the chronic disease program triage and general bedside investigations, including but not limited to urinalysis, laboratory testing, glucometer testing participate in the pre-disinfection/sterilization process and infection control in general with the collaboration of the sterilization unit in the maternity. When needed ensure general nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients and/or a population in accordance with doctors’ prescriptions, MSF protocols, respect of universal hygiene standards and according to context.
