Pharmacist

Main Purpose: Provide an accurate, timely and qualitative dispensing service of drugs in public health consultation department. Execute the pharmacy/medical storing activities in order to keep pharmacy stock above security level.  Accountabilities: Monitor correct stock management across the pharmacy, to guarantee a good control and up-dated data of stock levels and general control over drugs and medical devices. Ensuring inventories are recorded correctly. Assist the pharmacy manager in preparing the tri-annual inventories and orders. Tracking movements of drugs and medical devices (entry, exit, destinations) ensuring quality and assessing their conditions, as well as reporting any problem. Ensure, in cooperation with the project pharmacy manager, storage conditions (e.g. humidity, temperature, light exposure, cleanliness, pest and rodents control, etc.), and that classification and organization of medicines and medical material meet MSF protocols Ensure that all hygiene and security procedures are followed in project pharmacies by cleaning, controlling pests and rodents, etc. Dispense medication to patients according to medical prescription. Ensure the medication is labeled with the correct drug name, strength, quantity, expiry date, directions for use and includes and additional required information Provide clear instructions and advice on how to take the drug, when, how long, how to store, possible side-effects and any other relevant warnings. Make sure the patient understands in order to ensure correct treatment. Adhere to MSF practice policies and procedures for dispensing medicines, in particular those relating to controlled drugs Ensure respect of confidentiality in dispensing. Supervise the functioning and organization of the pharmacy and other peripheral units, setting the protocols and procedures to be followed by all staff, in order to ensure the quality of the service given to the population and the accurate handling of the products and equipment in terms of hygiene and security. Receive orders and deliveries, identifying potential disparities against cargo manifest or others and reporting them, and stores materials in accordance with the system in force, in order to ensure continuous availability. Do weekly inventories and prepare weekly orders to replenish the pharmacy stock. Report on drug consumptions and medical devices dispensed according to protocols, informing on unusual patterns. It includes: Ensuring correct disposal of expired medicines. Ensure correct fill in entries on the stock cards. Prepare orders (departments, wards, other), ensuring the packaging and proper dispatching. Reporting any anomalies or changes in consumption patterns to the Pharmacy Manager. Also inform the pharmacy manager as soon as stock reaches alert limit Report missing material/ damage/ robbery. Ensures good storage conditions of all items in the pharmacy. Control warehouse facilities in order to ensure materials good keeping conditions Ensure cleanliness of premises. Follows up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out, expiry dates and drugs to expire. Prepare a weekly report of consumption. Record the drug consumption on daily basis using the tally sheets. Ready to work in an unstable context (war context)   Additional tasks On request perform any other additional duties given by the immediate supervisor in order to allow the organization to function optimally.
