Child Protection Assistant - Beirut

ROLE PURPOSE: As a member of the Child Protection team, the Child Protection Assistant will be responsible for implementing the child protection programme under the supervision of the Child Protection Officer with a specific focus on children, adolescents and caregivers. The Child Protection Assistant will work towards ensuring that programme implementation is carried, that monitoring processes are in place and that timely reporting occurs. SCOPE OF ROLE: Reports to: Child Protection Officer   Reporting to: 3-6 Animators   KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Team Management: Train, coach and support the animators in the delivery of recreational and psychosocial activities. Support the supervision and performance management of the CP animators. With the support of the Child Protection Officer, plan and schedule the centre activities with the CP animators on a weekly basis. Project Implementation: Facilitate and support the delivery of recreational and psychosocial activities with children, awareness sessions with adolescent and parenting skills to caregivers with the assistance of the Child Protection Officer. Supervise the day-to-day running of the centres and ensure they are equipped with all supplies to enable the delivery of quality activities. Liaise on a daily basis with the community and Save the Children supervisors and colleagues to guarantee the smooth operation of the programmes. Work closely with the Education team to ensure a holistic programme delivery. Local Services Mapping: Provide information to the beneficiaries on existing social services and refer them to internal focal points when required. Conduct outreach activities in the local community (urban and rural settings) to promote Save the Children’s programme. Support the identification of suitable sites in the community to set up and conduct activities. Link between community-based initiatives and referral pathways to allow a more efficient access to services. Facilitate, collect and report information regarding the overall situation of the community where implementation is occurring.  Monitoring and Evaluation Participate in regular monitoring and evaluation activities/meetings of the programme. Produce timely reports for internal use on the activities progress in each location, highlighting challenges, best practices and lessons learnt. Ensure that data is accurately collected on a weekly and monthly basis. Ensure accurate data entry when necessary. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES University degree in Social Work or any field related to Humanitarian/ Development studies; Two years of work experience in local or international NGOs, ideally with at risk children and youth; Knowledge and understanding of social welfare systems and child protection mechanisms; Experience in Psychosocial support programming Ability to write weekly and monthly reports Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English. Ability to manage stress, be flexible and accommodating in difficult working circumstances Ability to maintain consistent high standards of professional behaviour and achievement when working independently and as part of a team. Commitment  to  and  understanding  understanding  of  Save  the  Children’s  aims,  values  and principles  including rights-based approaches
