Ot Nurse

Main responsibilities　 - Provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing orthopedic/ general surgery and works as a member of the multi-disciplinary team   - As scrub nurse, sets up operating room with instruments as specifically required for type of operation to be performed; anticipates surgeon’s needs for instruments, and other items and hands them to surgeon; maintains aseptic field. 　 - Drapes patient or assists surgeon with draping　 - As OT nurse, places patient in prescribed operative positions　 - As a circulator, observes patient during surgical procedure, observes progress of surgery; provides additional instruments, supplies.　 - Assists in anaesthesia when necessary.　 - During operative procedure, preserves and labels operative specimens for laboratory analysis/ pharmacy / administration　 - Cleans or directs cleaning and sterilization of contaminated instruments, equipment and supplies; cares for and stores delicate surgical instruments　 - Cleans or assists in cleaning operating room areas and caring for and disposing of infectious and soiled linen after conclusion of each operation.　 - After operation, assist in transferring patient, from operating room to recovery room/ cover recovery room duties　 - Will be on call duty and is able to work under pressure 　 - Any other duties as can be reasonably expected 　 Skills and qualifications　 - Registered nurse with post graduate experience as an OT nurse ( scrub and circulating )　 - University degree or professional diploma　 - At least 5 years work experience as an OT scrub nurse 　 - Good knowledge of written and spoken English　 - Requires thorough technical and working knowledge of: the various steps involved in different types of’ operations in order to anticipate surgeons, needs; correct methods of handling instruments and supplies; surgical instruments used in various surgical procedures, and the related proper setting up of the operating room; the importance of maintaining an aseptic field
