Vocational Teacher Position For Home Of Hope, Kahale

The vocational education teacher helps guide and train students in specific trade and technical skills, in addition to working with the students in other very important personal and life skills such as: confidence, overcoming challenges, learning new skills, listening to instructions, and patience.  The majority of the students are between the ages of 13-17 years old, and have limited to no knowledge of trade skills or competency with technical tools.  Hours are flexible, but a minimum of 24 hours a week is required.  The current skill set being sought is for young woman and includes: sewing, make-up and hair styling, skin care, and food preparation.  However, the position is open to any applicable trade that can be well instructed and applied by young women.    Objectives and expectations: -          Prepare projects for groups of 3-5 teenage girls. -          Create a written lesson/project plan that can be followed by the students, individually or with the help of an instructor. -          Create lists of required materials for all projects and teaching materials. -          Be able to clearly and patiently teach a 2 hour session. -          Work with students individually, as well as in small groups. Skills and Abilities: -          Very proficient and professional in the trade that is being taught. -          Be very patient and have the ability to explain a lesson in more than one way. -          Have an outgoing and caring personality and a strong desire to work with youth. -          All instruction is in Arabic.  Proficiency in English is a plus. -          A certificate in the trade is preferable, but not required. -          Prior experience teaching is highly preferred.
