General objective of the role
The clinical psychologist meet with clients to identify problems—emotional, mental and behavioral—in their lives. Through observation, interviews and tests, the psychologist will diagnose any existing or potential disorders. Then, together with the client, they formulate a program of treatment according to the client’s needs. Psychologist will monitor the client’s progress on a regular basis to ensure that his/her needs are met by the course of action, and to adjust it if necessary.
Position in the organisation
The psychologist will report directly to the Mental Health Advisor and is part of the Mental Health Psychosocial Department.
General duties and responsibilities:
Follow up on the senior social worker’s cases, as deemed necessary
Identify psychological, emotional or behavioral issues
Diagnose psychological, emotional or behavioral disorders
Develop and implement treatment plans and therapeutic processes
Help clients define goals and plan action to achieve personal, social, educational and vocational development and adjustment
Monitor client progress through regular meetings or sessions
Reporting on a regular basis to the Program Officer.
Documenting and archiving of client files.
Knowledge & Experience required:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a relevant field; Or specialization in the subject matter
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in working with an (I)NGO in an international/ humanitarian context;
Education degree: Masters Degree. A diploma in Psychotherapy would be an asset. Field of education: Clinical Psychology
